Laduguer, the main god of the Duergar, used to be a choosable god option for clerics, which, together with a few other hints, was pretty much a confirmation that the Duergar were supposed to be a choosable race at some point in the future. After some time now, I reinstalled BG3 to test the new classes and I noticed that Laduguer is gone as a god option.
Have the devs said anything about whether Laduguer, and thus the Duergar, are cut for good? Would be a shame, since the Duergar would have by far been the most interesting and unique playable dwarf variant in any video game I have played to this day.
Well, if my memory serves me right, in the second edition, Laduguer was killed and Asmodeus assumed his guise to manipulate the duergar. Of course, in the fifth edition, he returned, but there are suspicions that this is also Asmodeus.
Perhaps Larian will reveal this in their game. Or maybe there will simply be no Laduguer.
However, it would be strange if they weren't added as a playable race.
