Larian Studios Forums Baldur's Gate III Baldur's Gate III - Technical & Gameplay Problems Cannot Complete Interaction With Edowin's Parasite

This pertains to the encounter with Edowin where you interact with the parasite. I have tried to complete this six times. After Edowin died and his companions ran off to meet us at the owlbear lair. The game keeps freezing at different points.

I am selecting the option to kill the parasite. I always make each saving throw. After the parasite "plops to the ground" and I roll a save, the dialogue freezes on the screen and the quest stops advancing. I have tried every option that involves killing the parasite, but the game freezes. One time the game froze up right when it was supposed to offer the saving throws options. There were no options or dialogue on the screen and my character just stood there in a pose, staring down at Edowin's body.

I'm going to try to load a save before I ever met up with the three NPCs.

that didn't work. And this time i failed a save and rerolled, and the game froze on me again. So I cannot loot him to get the staff piece

I quit, and restarted the game a few hours later , and loaded an even older save, and I was finally able to kill that dang parasite
