I played the game more than a year ago and according to my memories, the fall damage was a formidable force and an important part of my tactics. I really enjoyed dropping enemies from a height and I felt it was fun and very realistic. However, after playing the game now, I get the impression that the damage has been reduced and there is not the same effect from falling from a height as before. At least, I am concerned about the fact that when you jump from the roof in a group, you get the same (fairly minor damage) like the enemy I sent flying with an effort.
In which patch was the fall damage changed (if it was changed at all) and do you think it's worth hoping that it will be increased again for more realism (again, provided that it was changed)?

Because of their blind obsession with slapstick/cartoon style combat, it makes sense they would reduce fall damage as a reaction to players complaining about the ridiculous amount of shoving and falling. When they really should be reducing Shove distance and making it an attack action.

I'm not sure if they did or not, but reducing fall damage doesn't have any impact on getting one-hit-killed in water / pit / lava, which is the actual problem. I have noticed however that even long falls are surprisingly safe so perhaps they did.

+1 to having more realistic fall damage and making Shove 5ft. and an attack action.

Add another +1 to that.

Bear in mind that formally, fall damage is 1d6 per ten feet fallen - so you can in theory fall twenty-seven feet off a second storey building and take as little as 2 damage, or as much as 12; flavour-wise the variance being the difference between how badly you land and so on. I feel as though in the earlier builds the damage was being calculated as 1d6 every five feet, and that may have been more recently corrected, but I'm not certain on that score.

I think fall damage that seems "too low" can be explained with the PC grabbing onto roots or similar to slow down the fall. In tabletop it's easier but would be cool if BG3 also had characters falling vertically rather than flying through the air in cartoony arcs. It would be much easier to suspend your disbelief if they didn't go so over the top with it. Even better if animations would reflect trying to slow down the fall.

Thats it:
If you think falling damage is too high, maybe its because damage is not calculated from vertical distance, but from the distance you fly through the air.
When using shove, it feels more like you are world champion in throwing people.
Is there a big difference between throwing and shoving enemies.

on a more serious note:
Yes, you should only shove 5ft or prone and when you shove them over an edge they should fall down straigt.
I think it is impossible to throw an unwilling person. The best thing you could do is a wrestling move to smash them on the ground or a nearby wall.
That would be more shove to prone than typical throwing.
