Dismiss spells after combat

It would be nice if magic users could dismiss their spell effects after combat. Example: I use Grease, finish off my enemies, and then dismiss the effect so my team doesn't keep falling over trying to move through the area.

Grease is like fire area or acid area. Its not concentration , then you cant stop that. But you can cast create water on. =)

Or burn it with cantrip ...
Also prestidigitation would be usefull for exactly this purpose.

I still dont understand why cant we change Race for our hirelings. frown
