All the companions so far are full of themselves to varying degrees. Gale totally is, Wyll is about 50%, since he talks about himself in 3rd person but also admits to making mistakes. Astarion seems to think he's better than everyone because he was a noble. Lae'zel because she's Githyanki, so automatically superior to everyone else. Shadowheart mostly seems humble except if you give her one particular compliment and she responds, "I know."

So...I don't know, if they could get less arrogant over time, that would be good. I mean, they're fighting lots of battles with you and that should bond you a bit eventually...right?

Mostly I like these characters, it's just a bit distracting how un-humble they can be sometimes, when someone of their experience/wisdom/intelligence would probably know that a lack of humility could be off-putting and therefore risky. Why risk losing the few allies you have when there's a tadpole in your head and whatever other dark secrets you may be running from?

Honestly i hope not ...
I mean during whole EA they spend together how much, two, maybe three weeks ... even if month? :-/
Thats hardly any time to make some lasting bonds, or change someone personality or lifetime of brainwashing. :-/

I still dont understand why cant we change Race for our hirelings. frown
Lets us play Githyanki as racist as they trully are! frown

I think they're all basically in character given their backgrounds. I wouldn't call SH humble although she seems somewhat less full of herself than the others.

Keep in mind that there are likely to be other companions as well. I think we got the most interesting and developed ones first...*think". I also think we have met two or three of them and they are all "good" whereas the current ones are neutral at best.

I'm confused, because I am pretty sure Wyll is good aligned (despite a few mistakes made), Gale so far seemes more on the good than neutral side, Shadowheart...eh, pretty tame for a priestess of
Shar. Do I still need to spoiler it? confused
.

That's 3 out of 5 available companions who are good to neutral at worst.

The more I think about it the more reason I see behind D&D going away from alignments, considering our companions are also origin characters so I'm sure there will be lots of children-saving Astarions and tiefling-saving Lea'zels soon enough and alignments would only hinder that smile
