Hi,

I had created this post before, but I took it off in case of copyright issues. After some research, I'm fairly certain I won't have a problem since there are Youtube videos out there with people fully playing through the entire Out of the Abyss campaign.

So, if you are interested, here is the link to the blog Demon Hunters:

https://dndemonhunters.blogspot.com/2022/09/demon-hunters-d-5e-fan-fiction.html

It is a fan fiction story based on the Out of the Abyss D&D 5e campaign. If you are interested, check it out. I'll be adding more to it as I go.

Oh, almost forgot. I do plan on eventually creating these characters in BG3 and linking the story at least a bit to the BG3 story. So, if you were wondering how it relates, there you go. 😁

Thanks.

I forgot to mention, like I did previously before I deleted the post, this story takes place in the Underdark. So, if you're curious about how the Underdark is depicted in campaigns and novels, this story might also be for you.

Updated blog with original pic concepts for each of the main 5 characters.

Later, I will update with their Wrath of the Righteous avatars as well as their BG3 versions.

Glad to see you've found a new writing project after finishing the last one. smile

I read all of it and it's really good! The plot is gripping and there are many wonderful touches. I enjoyed the changes in perspectives, chapter 3 in particular, and the running gag with Derendil only speaking elvish made me laugh every time. There's also something to be said for rolling dice for the combat sequences, because that shows the reader that no character has plot armor.

Can't wait for part 2!

So glad you enjoyed it.

Added more pics for characters from the story including Graiyla, the Yuan-ti pure blood.

She's a character I just whipped up out of thin air, now one of my favorites. I hope she lives. 😁

Updated blog. Added the next chapter. I decided to do updates more frequently rather than 1 part at a time. So I'll update part 2 with more chapters as I finish them and then let you know.

Hope you enjoy.

I'll be honest, I've never read your blog, but do you actually role play with character sheets, dice, etc? I've always enjoyed the idea of solo roleplaying (as weird as some people think it sounds)

Dice are cruel masters…

The initial cart ride from Eromani’s (I think) point of view is one of the strongest parts of the story, if not the strongest. The single perspective creates a great sense of alienation, which is maintained when perspective changes to other characters in following chapters.

It’s been dropped for a sort of ‘party perspective’, where readers are privvy to the thoughts of the main five. I recommend dipping back into pov chapters. You’ve no lack of perspectives to pick from; a chapter from the point of view of a character who’s scared (Rini or that one commoner) or out of the loop (Derendil) could add interesting tension.

To be clear, I now have 2 blogs, one for BG3 The Afflicted and one for Demon Hunters (Out of the Abyss). For The Afflicted, I started the story as a legit BG3 recreated playthrough using 5e characters I made for the video game and then translated to tabletop. The original intent of that story was to test the BG3 campaign using real 5e rules and stats, and I enjoyed making it into a narrative, so I kept going through both books, adding my own flavor to the whole story. But yes, I did dice rolls, character sheets and such in that story. That's why I used to argue that Party of 4 Custom characters with party of 6 max could work well with BG3 if they simply used actual 5e monster stats. But anyway...

For Demon Hunters, absolutely. The same concept is being used. I have full character sheets for the 5, and actually 6 now with Graiyla, and I am rolling for ALL characters. With Fantasy Grounds organizing and rolling for me, it runs pretty smooth and fast. Then I type up the narrative as I go.

OMG. I can't wait to post the next chapter. The dice rolls... Something totally unexpected happened and... Well... Anyways... That's what really makes it even more fun for me. I have no idea how the story is actually going to go.

Oh. There will be more pov moments. For sure. Some parts just didn't work well keeping with that method. So not chapter 3, but most likely 4 will delve back into 1 pov again.
