Hi! I know there are a lot of people asking for reactions and this post can be a good way to gather opinions and ideas about the subject,
Option 1 - Prompts like Solasta. Personally, I hate this option because interrupts my gameplay and at every turn, I had to accept or refuse reactions. It got annoying to the point I gave up playing Paladin. But I think this should be in the game because some players enjoy it.
Option 2 - Be a toggle. The game already has it but only for a few cases. The Riposte maneuver of the Battle Master already works as a reaction. If the enemy misses the battle master counters them. This can burn the player's resources kinda fast and doesn't give the player a choice case by case. I really don't like this one.
Option 3 - Programming the conditions for the reaction and what reaction should be used. If the mage is targeted by a Melee weapon, the damage will be big, the health is full or below the shield spell will be used. It's a lot of what was done in DA:O to control the Companions A.I. But in a simpler way.

Option 4 - Selectable and prepared Reactions.
The player selects the reaction in the case of the Paladin while attacking and works as same as a skill, if you miss you don't lose the smite. While defensive reactions should be set before battle and at the end of future turns since you can usually use only one reaction per turn.
For me would be a mix of options 3 and 4. I totally hate when the gameplay is broken by several prompts for reaction at every turn. Probably that's why Larian didn't do it yet.
