1: If we manage to kill the dragon rider and take his silver sword in chapter 1 will there be random encounters of (Sword retreival squads) as mentioned in the lore
Or will we be to mobile for them to reasonably find us?
2: If i take a potion that buffs before i go into the astral realm (In game) will the buff stay permanently like it would in actual lore OR will it just function as normal?
And will healing items have no effect like in actual lore once in the astral?
3: Will githyanki get their psychic buffs and resistances by final release?

are we confirmed to be going in to the astral realm?

I really liked going in to different realms in bg2, it really made the world feel a lot bigger and set my imagination off imaging all the adventures my party could end up doing, this train of thought made me want to have an open world dnd game to play where I could explore the entire universe

At least on your second point, you're misunderstanding the interaction with the Astral plane; your body does not age normally (It does age very slowly, in truth, but it's a slow down in the magnitude of thousands; 1 day of age for your body would take 1000 years to pass in the astral, so it's effectively not aging), but that has no impact on things like injuries, healing, and magical buffs or other effects - a sword will still injure you, a potion will still heal it, and your haste spell will still last one minute, and no more. It's not 'stasis'; time passes normally in the Astral Plane - it's only the effects of time on the body that are functionally suspended.

-Well there is a githyanki
-gale himself claims he would go there if he is going to blow up and knows a chaotic evil wizard in undermountain who cat sits his familiar (There are groups of githyanki with a portal there)
plus vlakith base is in the astral realm along with the yawning portal and creche kalir which has a portal to the astral realm
Would be very odd if laezel or gale dint end up going into the astral

I assume we might end up in the Astral Plane, especially because of Lae'zel's story and the whole Githyanki arc.

As for the effects it might have on us, Larian usually pays a lot of attention to detail and makes places feel unique. In DOS2 when the player ends up in Xantezza's realm of time, the player is drastically slowed down along with the music. Then when the player shifts the realm's time, they gain movement speed and the music tempo increases.

So I have no reason to think they won't do the same with the Astral Plane, as it's discussed quite a lot in the game, along with its effects. Even Lae'zel herself explains its effects and why Githyanki are born outside of it. So personally I'm quite hoping to see it in the full release, along with Vlaakith ^^

If we're going into the astral and exploring the gith storylines we need githzerai in game.
Still salty they're not included or mentioned.

I think it would fit quite well to introduce Githzerai when the monk class is released. I would like to see both groups of Giths, too.
