I open this post to discuss what you think we will get in the new patch that will be announced in the from Hell panel apart from the new paladin class.

I'm trusting them to do a good job with the basic systems of the class.
What I'm hoping for is that they improved upon the dialogue by adding new lines depending on your choice of diety, which in turn should also improve the Cleric class.

Appart?
Well, maybe you should concider renaming topic then ... this way it seems like discusion about paladins, rather than anything else. laugh

Anyway:

I keep my hopes for Monk ...
I know there are no indications known, but it would be a nice surprise. :P
And in some really loose way, Monks are kind of something like Holy Knights. laugh

I must also admit that the extensive usage of new zones in last trailer made me thinking about how high are changes that we get another region in this patch ... im stuck on 50/50 since i have litteraly no idea tho. laugh Again, it would be a nice surprise.

I dare to believe that level 5 should come without saying ... number of arguments for this is beyond my capability, and/or will to count ... on the other hand tho, we "should" for exactly that reasons have it allready. :-/

Beyond that ... im not exactly sure about reactions ... same reasons as for level 5 for both why we should get them, and why we may not ...

I think there is quite fair chance that Larian will include update of their Fog of War tho.

I totally expect some coments on another companions in PFH ... and confrimation if they will or will not be included to EA.

And from other topics we were promised in the past but didnt seen so far ... custom party, rolled stats ...
And finfaly from things that were hugely requested and didng seem exactly impossible ... option to pick our starting gear ...

Those are my hopes, dreams, wishes, and some kinda realistic expectations. smile

My predictions (totally overhyped and 100% wrong, but quote me on this!):
- Paladin class
- Aasimar race
- 5th level
- the possibility to select body shape
- possibly some new area the size of Grym Forge

All of this because of the new trailer. Sure, you can say, that it was not a patch trailer itself, but all content is developed simultaniously. So 5th level spells are just as much finished as are 3rd level spells. If the point of this was JUST to show of cool spells for people not familiar with the game, why only show 3rd level spells, which you get on lv 5? Why no animate object etc?

Even the Paladin itself used the spell branding smite, which is a spell they get, again, at lv 5

As for new areas, I think that is even less likely, but we again were shown a lot of new areas that are clearly RIGHT AFTER our current EA content, the area with the Drider for example.
Again, if the area has NOTHING to do with the next patch, why only show of EA and EA + 15min after EA content? Why not some boss or area from act 2 or 3?

I would be deeply amused if they introduced the Aasimar in patch 9 instead of Dragonborn or Half-Orcs. It's not unwelcome though.

But altogether, I doubt many of the things teased in the trailer will find their way into the EA. It was a glimpse of what we will see when the game is finally released in total, not a patch 9 trailer.

There's an angelic-looking character in the trailer, who is probably Aasimar. It's not confirmed though. It's certainly not confirmed that it will be a playable race or will be introduced in early access.

Question:
Is there any 3rd level spell that would let person grow wings?

I mean, i would like to believe its Aasimar ... even more i would like to believe its playable Aasimar ...
Just wondering about alternatives ... NPC one is obvious, no matter if Aasimar or regular Angel (Celestial?) in that case ... but how about some Transmutation(?) spells?

I wonder what Oaths will be included for the Paladin for the EA. I would imagine Vengeance is a no brainer.

I really hope it is, I have a fun idea for an oath of vengeance paladin I really wanna run.

I'm also only familiar with Pathfinder Aasimar, but I didn't think they actually came with wings. I suspect this character is an actual angel, honestly.

There's no 3rd level transmutation spell that might let you grow wings, because the Fly spell does not give you wings. However, it might be the case that Larian's visual effect for the Fly spell is to give the character wings, which is probably what we're seeing.

Could also be wings of flying, which is a well-known magic item.

Seems like the release video shows the fly spell (timestamp 1:01). If that's so, fly looks a lot more like Feather Fall than full-on angel wings.

It will probably work like in D:OS2 - you hover over the ground not interacting with surfaces, and you will get an extended “jump”.

Personally, I don’t mind it. While it doesn’t quite sell the fantasy of flying, it also ticks off most boxes I would want from “fly”. That is definitely one of those things I am more then willing to let slide.

The only problem is when it comes to cross vertical gap.

I already had the issue with the flying pet, unable to go from the ground to the upper part of the door at the githyanky encounter.
The game didn't allow it because I was too close so the arc went into the wall.

I think that the flying spell will be more situationnal than it should with the map design and the jump spell will probably often be more optimized. Not really an issue to me even if it's sad.

For most games I'd probably think there was no way that would happen. But I will give Larian this; they're crazy enough that I absolutely believe they would give that to us if they could, and there is a non-zero chance that it will be included.

It very much depends on what type of action this "extended jump" is. Is it a free action that can be repeated multiple times a turn (using movement)? Fine.
Is it a free action that is restricted to 1x/turn? Not great.
Is it a bonus action? Terrible.

Regardless, I doubt I'll ever use any of these versions spell in combat, since our characters wouldn't actually be able to gain altitude. Without the ability to become untargettable by ground-based melee attacks, it just wouldn't ever seem worth it over other concentration spells. As @Maximuuus says, the Jump spell seems like it'll be a superior option.

If we get to select body shape hopefully there will be a slim and stacked choice for female characters.

Personally, I would love a slimmer, less muscular body type, especially for man. Nothing bad to say against the current one but it seems way to muscular for certain characters.

That being said, I'm glad to see that the people who wanted a stronger build for their character will have the option now laugh (based on the trailer).

Age slider. I like my wizard characters to be past their youth.
