So I made a paladin and throwing the javelin was working perfectly fine on the ship. Then, on the beach with the intellect devourer fight, the javelin would cause crushing damage to the target and the thrower. I could throw a backpack or a mace fine, but every time the javelin would be buggy. I have a screenshot that shows the combat log. I can also share the save if needed, but I didn't see how to attach that here.

This is very odd because I was just going to post about a similar thing involving a paladin throwing the flaming 2 handed sword that you are weilding in the picture. He threw that sword at a harpy and BOOM he took a ton of crushing damage (which dropped him to zero health) and also did a lot of crushing damage to the harpy killing it. It seems like it may somehow be tied to some combnation of a paladin and the flaming greatsword maybe? Since both of the characters are paladins and it does involve that sword in some way. He (my nephew's paladin) is following the Oath of the Ancients if that in some way matters? I don't know if you're also following the same path? I would like to mention that the sword ONLY did crushing damage to both he and the harpy. There was no slashing of fire damage at all.
I believe he is a shield dwarf.

It's not specific to the paladin. I just tested it with a bunch of objects and it can be reproduced with all characters. The damage your character takes is relative to the distance and weight of the object. Obviously you should not be taking damage but this bug makes it impossible to continue playing with some builds. Hope they fix it soon.

I experienced it in two different play-throughs on the Nautaloid in the exact same spot.

When you encounter the imps right after Laezel the first imp dies to a javelin throw, the second imp dies from my second javelin throw but my paladin dies from the same throw.

Possible some Cursed Backbiters found their way into the game.
Likely just a bug.

Found a solution. Drop the item that is causing the damage when thrown then pick it back up again. The weapon/item should no longer cause the bludgeoning damage when thrown after being picked up again.
