Larian Studios Forums Baldur's Gate III Baldur's Gate III - Technical & Gameplay Problems Black "Void" consumes my screen

I don't really know what the cause is but suddenly this void started to cover my screen. I am still able to interact with everything in the game world and open up menus fine. It persists through loading old saves but is seems like relaunching fixes it so its not that game breaking, just thought I should still report it. I have linked a clip of it happening below.

The low fps is because of the clipping software not the bug

It has happened to me once in my time playing patch 8 during the fight with the drow in the goblin camp and once with patch 9 after leaving the owlbear cave.

Happens to me too. Shutting the game completely and restarting solves it for awhile.

Happen to me in the goblin fortress when picking up the map near the drow Minthara. Shutting down the game solves the issue but I've had the black square void replicate on some saves like the map in the goblin fortress.

Happened to me just standing in town at the grove. Reloading did not fix it. Had to restart the game.

Almost same. Exiting Lair of Kagha to the yard area and blackness consumed me. Reloading does not fix.

I get this as well, happens randomly.

Only cure is to restart the game completely.

Same problem here, its always toy "play" with a far camera with the look from above, and some times random in a conversation. Restarting completly the game fixes it until next void xD

For me it gets fixed if i save the game . From the MENU. Quicker than restarting the game. Hope it helps.

Got it too a few times in Vulkan - never with DX11. Fast saving with F5 resolved the problem each and every time for me. No need to reload, just press F5 and voila the picture is back.

This is a DLSS related bug, I had the same issue until I disabled it.

Finished the game with half-elf paladin without any bugs, started tiefling paladin and this bug happend on character creation screen, restarted the game, created tiefling paladin again and bug repeated on prologue, restarted, created a half-elf pal, normal for 30 minutes, restarted, created tief paladin and again bug in prologue.

Ultra setting without DLSS.

I was getting this with Patch #9, new game start and it was happening in the Nautiloid ship - Blackness would start in the centre of the screen and grow outwards until the entire game screen was black, although I could still interact with game elements I just could not see what I was doing. A game reload resulted in the same thing happenng ...

Since Hotfix #30 was released I no longer have the issue.
