Anyone who wants to play paladin generally wants to play a goodie two shoes that follows the rules, is lawfully good and guess what…. It’s boring. When your playing as a paladin, I want to role play as a heretic. A paladin that chose to be lawfully evil. Here would be how I would homebrew them in.

Races to RP As

I would want to play as a Drow or Human. I can see arguments made for half elves and gnomes as well.

Powers

Level 1: Minor command Dead: cast a wisdom with DC of 8. Undead fights everyone unless makes a DC save of 12.
Level 3: Hellish Rebuke: make a 1d10 burn to any enemy in LoS with a dc of 12 (dex), if save deal 1d4
Level 5: Crown of madness: charms an ally unless save of 16- lasts 4 rounds [free action]
Level 7: touch of madness: reduce chosen stat roles by 4, add 4 to chosen
Level 9: Bestow Curse: target rolls all chosen stats with disadvantage (can be removed by magics)
Level 12: Blight: deal 1d6 damage every round to enemy until concentration check fails [free action]

Let me know if you agree.

I wanted to clarify that I am aware that oathbreaker is a hidden option for failing to adhere to one of the 3 specs. The problem I have with it, is that it makes oathbreaker a punishment which does not fit my RP desires. People chose to be evil, you do not need to be a good paladin- you could have not made an oath to start with. Or you could have lied from the start. It should be an option for char creator. There is also the fact that I dislike the current paladins without domains being in game
