Larian Studios Forums Beyond Divinity (English) Help/Tips/Tricks Act 3 Raanaar Translation Book-Needed or Not?

I have seen a number of posts on this, but does anyone know if you *really* need the translation book to complete the quests in Act 4? I got to the Academy without finding it, even though I did restore the Raanaar Elder from doll form. I may just go back and get it anyway--I think I have a save before getting the symbols....Apparently, it is in the area to which you teleport for the wall-hanging symbol...I got ported back as soon as I got it off of the wall....grrrr....I think I even saw one post that seemed to say the Act 4 quests went better *without* the book...gah....

I went back to a save and got the 3rd Raanaar language book anyway...it is in the little dead end hall opposite where the symbol is found as you know...but if you take the symbol before getting it, you are auto-ported out before you can get it...heh... <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/puppyeyes.gif" alt="" />

You do not need the book - although being able to read instructions isn't a BAD thing <smile>.

I posted that one game without being able to read I had no problems and the next game with the ability to read a few bugs got me - but I don't think there is any causal connection at all.

Misterbill, I tried this combo yesterday => not being able to read has no impact on the tests in level 1 or the first one in lvl 2.

So, for those with a prob about the 1st summ. test => I still have to find out another cause.

I'd found all the books by the time I reached Act Four, and I had no problems with the various Summoning tests. So understanding the language completely is not the source of the mysterious bugs either...
