I'm not sure if this is by design or a bug, but here it is :

Apparently, to unlock the Book of the Dead Gods, the Paladin option uses a Widsom check.

However, the action attempted here is to channel their divine power to unlock the book. Which means, they should use their spellcasting ability, Charisma.



There might be other instances of this. I'm unsure.

My theory is that the original idea was to have [Illithid][Wisdom] aka using a tadpole, which transmuted into [Paladin][Wisdom] when devs were copy-pasting their code.

Or they've just copied and pasted from Cleric!

It didn't occur to me during my paladin playthrough that it should be a Charisma check for a paladin, but now you say that @Melivy, of course it should!

Oooh! That would make so much sense!

This is not the only case. My oathbreaker's checks where ALMOST ALL WISDOM checks which pissed me the FF off as i set my wisdom to 8 and charisma to max as hat is how paladin is played. Seems someone at Larian fat fingered paladin's checks. Go back and fix it LMAO.

Interesting. I think I had another check where it used wisdom when recalling some paladin knowledge on oath of devotion. It seems someone in coding believed paladin is a strenght/wis class 😅
