Yeah, somehow I think I went forward without restoring that Elder.

I still have the doll.

Also, that God Avatar said something about me collecting three signs and present them to her. Instead, I collected that crystal piece.

Did I do something wrong? I think I collected all the 3 signs, but can I later on present them to Raan?

THat depends on you entirely. If you get the 3 signs you can have the doll restored and you lose it. Or, if you want to keep the doll as a mule just forget the restoring part and go on... there will be no problem for you, just a loss of a little exp.

I chose to keep the Doll for use as a mule and to mess around with later after the game.

In my game (I think), the Raanaar Elder sent me to the Academy. How do you get there otherwise? Another thing you missed by not getting the symbols is the 3rd Raanaar language translation book. With that, you can read their notes and books perfectly in Act 4....The book is in the area you go to via the teleport stone on the west side of the map--in a dead-end hall opposite the symbol--but if you get the symbol first, you will be ported back with no way to retrieve the book...

Spoilers, obviously:

first time thru Act 3 I got the cutscene for restoring the Elder doll. but since i screwed myself over accidentally by teleporting one-way out, i had to reload the last level of the temple. THEN i somehow managed to "skip" the elder doll sequence and went straight to the last crystal fragment. so it definitely doesn't seem to be a requirement at all, which is very odd since the main game plot seems to indicate that the whole point of going to the temple is getting to speak with the Elder Ranaar.

However, if you skip the doll restoration anyway, the Elder is mysteriously "there" after you return from killing the necromancer.

what seems to happen is that EVEN IF you have all 3 of the holy symbols of Raan, if you continue to run south and pick up the crystal, the sequence for restoring the doll is never triggered. I had to reload a 3rd time, and go back north to a middle room on that temple level to encounter Raan again. THEN you can go back and pick up the crystal.

I really did not need the Raanaar book, just the first one. I have always been a fan of puzzles with transposed letters, and after getting the first book I could read the Raanaar text without any further assistance. That kind of suprised me too.

btw: I have finished the game both ways - restoring the doll, and keeping the doll. There is no problem either way.

Yes, you'll have to speak to an elder. But not that one, there's plenty of elders in act4...
Furthermore, I don't think you get to speak to your doll if you don't restore her, as it's the same ghost that normally sends you to get the 3 symbols to restore the doll that sends you off to act 4 then. (That's the ghost of the mother of your doll, btw).
Last paragraph I wouldn't know...
