-More BG2 characters returning, including Edwin the Lich, Jon Irenicus (specifically whatever monstrosity remains of him), Viconia (original VA), Jan Jansen, etc. - Somewhat joking, but the Dead Three decide to put some of their Divine Essence into the tadpoles as a means of weaponizing the Cult of the Absolute to its greatest capacity, but something goes wrong and we end up with the consciousness of the Bhaalspawn. As a result, somehow Sarevok returned. I’d be totally up for more BG1/2 character surprise appearances, if they can be convincingly tied into the story, and didn’t require knowledge of the previous games to make sense. Eg Edwin turning out to be linked to the Lorroakan plot lines, or Viconia being behind Shadowheart’s Sharran mission to steal the box. Jan Jansen … possibly not so much . His rambling stories were bad enough when they were mainly text, I’d be screaming if they were voiced. Still, better him than Aerie! Regarding the Dead Three, I would love to be surprised by Bhaal being tied to the main story in some way that helps tighten the connection with the Bhaalspawn saga and make the three game arc hold together as the story of, say, Bhaal’s return to godhood. I don’t think this is necessary in order to make BG3 a sequel to the old games, though, and am not sure if or how it could be done well, and without compromising accessibility of the story for players who haven’t played the original games. Perhaps any shenanigans involving the portfolios of death gods will remain a side plot. I do hope that Larian will continue to fudge the story of Gorion’s Ward as far as is consistent with having a strong story and fun callbacks to BG1&2 in this sequel, though. It would be a most unpleasant surprise if Abdel Adrian were referred to in the game, or if much more from the originals was made canon in BG3 beyond what is essential to have the characters we meet in it alive and, I guess, Gorion’s Ward having finally died around 10 years before BG3 starts to enable Bhaal to return.

I hope Abdel Adrian is only used for out-of-BG DnD properties, and it is heavily implied that "Gorion's Ward" is the protagonist from previous games. Just open to interpretation stuff. Or maybe there's a plot twist and it turns out we are still Gorion's Ward (again, joking, haha, but what if maybe?). I think it would be really cool if somehow before his "death," Irenicus survived and through plot-like bullshit became tadpoled and a potential Origin character. Like you-know-who becoming a companion in Throne of Bhaal. After all, anyone can be level one with the tadpole due to it turning all of the once-powerful origins into chumps. Edit: What would an Illithid Bhaalspawn Slayer look like?

Personally, I feel the stories of both Gorion’s Ward and Jon Irenicus are done so confess I’d be extremely dubious about either of them being brought back into BG3 in any form. Plus I’m hoping that it will be clarified that it’s not the tadpoles that are reducing anyone’s level (as per this thread). But I did have a perverse soft spot for Sarevok so if there is some way that he could be “alive”despite Bhaal’s return AND there was a genuine plot reason to have him as part of the story then I’d not be upset .

I'd like to know if they are going to have a Q&A session and actually talk about planned or finished features. This would help putting people's concerns to rest, or at least save the effort of posting about stuff that will change anyway.
Few questions come to mind like...
- Are you going to turn Long Rest into a meaningful resource limit? - How do you feel about Stealth and Shove currently, and are changes planned? - How do you feel about every class being able to cast spells from scrolls? Doesn't this devalue multiclassing for spells, or magic oriented subclasses like Eldritch Knight and Arcane Trickster? - How do you feel about the power of surprise attacks i.e. getting two or three turns with preparations before the enemy gets to act at all? Effortlessly taking down bosses like the hag or Gith patrol before they can get a turn. - How many companions can we expect?

Yes it might be fun to meet Coran’s son, Krydle, who was introduced in the same comic books that brought statue Minsc to life and who adventured with Minsc for a while. I’m not sure how much of those comic books will be considered canon for BG3 but based on the final instalment Krydle and the rest of that gang could well be involved in whatever the Absolute cult are up to in Baldur’s Gate when we get there.

From what I understand the comic occurs the most recently in Wizard's canon, it also might be where Minsc's reappearance comes from. I'm going to go out on a limb and say more than a little of the comic continuity will be used for BG3's city.

I agree with this, and I take this opportunity to remind Larian to adopt the correct German translations from WotC / MtG TCG and to adapt other sources in the game, such as Lore Books, to them: Some characters are already known, some of them have a high chance to be in BG 3 (this listing therefore makes no claim to completeness): https://scryfall.com/card/afr/226/de/krydle-von-baldurs-torhttps://scryfall.com/card/afr/219/de/bruenor-heldenhammerhttps://scryfall.com/card/clb/272/de/herzog-ulder-rabenwacht --> Here, for example, only the English name was used and not translated at all...https://scryfall.com/card/clb/267/de/tyrannos-fürst-der-finsternis --> Here, for example, only the English name was used and not translated at all...https://scryfall.com/card/clb/289/de/neunfinger-kienhttps://scryfall.com/card/clb/293/de/rilsa-rael-die-patinPS: From the old characters I would only want to see Viconia and Elminster again, as a dark elf she should have aged about the same as Jaheira. With the others I find it stupid, if they live again with some whacky, justifying stories in the same future as Volo and Minsk and their both coincidental reappearance at the coincidentally same time period are already too much for me. I would much rather get to know new characters.

I say the same here, that I said in the BioWare Forum concerning the new Dragon Age game: I want fresh and new characters, not the old ones again. They had their stories and it was all fun and games, but always recycling the same characters makes the world seem smaller, than it is. I really can do without Minsc and Jaheira being companions yet again ( and I do like Jaheira a lot), I'm not so keen of Bhaal being a plot element yet again and can Volo retire already?
And please don't even think of giving that abomination, that they tried to make canon as Gorions ward ( this Abdel Whatshisface) any room. That character has no right to even exist ( same with BioWares crazy white male Revan).

Some characters are already known, some of them have a high chance to be in BG 3 (this listing therefore makes no claim to completeness): Thanks for sharing! Yes, of those, Krydle would make sense given the Mindbreaker comic, Bane and the rest of the Dead Three we can assume to be at least part of a subplot given what we find in the ruined temple, Duke Ulder we already know is involved and has been kidnapped and taken to Moonrise Towers, and the two thieves’ guild members could reasonably be people we can meet in Baldur’s Gate when we get there. I understand that Bruenor and the rest of Drizzt’s companions have already been reincarnated in the books (and yes, I also wish that more characters would die and just stay dead to make room for new ones!) so I guess we might see him and the rest of that gang in a cameo as we did in BG2 but I hope no more than that, and could do without even that much. I agree with you and fylimar that reintroducing old characters can easily be overdone (as happened in BG2 to my mind), and certainly wouldn’t support bringing back any more individuals who have either died or should have died of old age, unless there is already independent lore establishing that they are still present in the 1490s. But I would still enjoy coming across little Easter Eggs that reference characters from the previous games without warping the plot of this one. For example, I liked coming across the book of Faldorn’s teachings in Kagha’s chest, but don’t particularly want to find Faldorn alive and well in Cloakwood if (when?) we get there!

Any companion from 120 years ago still alive should be a high level NPC with a supporting role. Make room for new characters and a new story. Recycling Minsc and Jaheira (and de-leveling them for gameplay reasons) is only going to make them less legendary.

When I was talking about Edwin, Viconia, Jan, and Sarevok, it wasn't as party members. More like cameos. It IS a Baldur's Gate game after all.

I would like to know ASAP whether the 1st act will be similar to what we currently get in EA or EvilVik was correct in https://forums.larian.com/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=800723#Post800723 and the actual full game will be drastically better in terms of spacing, world-building and design. The idea that EA could be just a purpose-built theme park for early access is intriguing. But I'm not much of a believer...

That same statement defines our "dense" world as "large."

I would like to know - Full list of playable races and classes which will be available at launch. - Any fixes and additions to certain classes (looking at you Paladin) - If a crafting system is implemented, Id like to know about it (i really hope they dont implement anything Else other than whats in game on that front btw). - Any details/clarifications on total party/camp size after chapter 1. (Ive heard rumours that one needs to drop a couple after chapter 1) - If language proffiencies will be a thing - How many chapters there are in The game. -whether or not post release patcher will be save compatible. - How many Steam achievementd there are (if any). Please please please implement Larian. Think thats about it pre release . Wouldnt want to be spoilerd too much. That being said I will prolly Watch newer trailers again and again :P
