Larian Studios Forums Beyond Divinity (English) Technical Problems Game shuts down

Please, can anyone help, I've gone up to see Samuel, he was sumonned away, I killed his minions <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />, got the battlefield key, <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/biggrin.gif" alt="" /> went back down the way I came and entered the room with the other stairs going up, go upstairs.... game shuts down <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/eek.gif" alt="" /> and I have to reconfigure before my game will start again. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cry.gif" alt="" /> This happened three times in a row, luckily I saved before trying to go upstairs, I'm running patch 1.44, does anyone know if the new patch will fix this, or ... do I have to go up those stairs, would I miss much if I don't? The last patch took me nearly two hours to download, will the new one take that long? <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/disagree.gif" alt="" /> Any help/suggestions will be more than greatly received.

I downloaded the new patch (took 1 1/2hours)and all went well, although I found I didn't need to go up those stairs <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/silly.gif" alt="" />, oh well I'm sure I'm better off with the new patch anyway. Fox, are you playing on Win98SE? If so, you have to set down your resolutions to 640x480 for the act change - and then reset after you managed it.

Patch 1.45 said it has fixed this Win 98 prob - but as I play XP, I can't confirm.

Yep, I had this problem on Win ME as well. It's trying to load a video that will only display at low resolution or low colour. Set your resolution to 600 x 400 or whatever and set your colour to 8 bits and it should work. Then when you have watched the video, save your game and set it all back again. You can reload your game and all will be OK.

Hi, no need to change colour if you are WIN98se. Just change your resolution to the lowest in the game config.

Patch 1.45 does indeed fix this problem I'm glad to annouce.
