This subclass feels kinda redundant because those magic surges happen way too seldom.
Why did they make the passive effect (increased surge chance) on tides of chaos dissappear after a magic surge
Now it feels like the class lost its whole identity.
Might it be a bug? Since it sais the passive effect stays till a long rest, which is not the case

Wild Magic Sorcerer used DM involvement to dictate frequency of surges, and without that, Larian have tried to put a % change to surge, at least it seems like that's how they've done it. But, even if you always roll after you cast a lvl 1 or higher spell, you still only surge on a 1, which should be roughly a 5% chance to surge, which isn't a lot.

I'd be interested to see if someone had done some actual maths to see if Larian have Sorcs surging more or less than 5% of the time.

The increased chance to surge from Tides of Chaos goes away after your next surge because surging should reset Tides so you can use it again. It cools on long rest OR after your DM forcing a surge on your next lvl 1 or higher spell. Increased chance to surge is how they've done it without active DM involvement.
