I know we have our own camp and thats great and all, not that I am happy with the way it works but won't get into that.

But I would like to know if any where in the game is there going be any Inn's, or other places, in which to stay the "night", rest, eat, get laid, or whatever like in you know, Baldurs Gate 1 & 2 ?

I wouldn't be surprised if when we rest in a city, the 'camp' will just morph to look like the room of an inn. Larian doesn't seem to be big on providing much atmosphere to the game in the service of verisimilitude. I don't think they feel it's important. I guess requiring the player to physically walk to an inn and buy a room for the night might be too much to ask of a 'modern gamer'?

I’m thinking we’ll at least get to the Blushing Mermaid and the Elfsong Tavern in Baldur’s Gate, given that certain Tavs can pick one or the other as their preferred drinking hole, and I’m sure at least one if not two people in EA tell us that they drink in the Elfsong Tavern and that they’ll see us there (Rugan? The tiefling who wagers they’re not going to survive the goblins? I don’t remember for sure). And I hope that we might stop by the Friendly Arm Inn if it’s still there and we have reason to be south of Baldur’s Gate.

But even if I’m pretty sure we’ll get to go to at least some taverns that aren’t on fire at the time, it’s true that we may not be required to do so in order to rest even in built up areas. Personally, I think I’d prefer that we did have to visit taverns or a home base in town to rest, but don’t feel particularly strongly about it.

I assume we will stay at an inn when we reach BG.
It's not critical to me but the option to stay at different inns (for roleplay reasons perhaps for four rogues want to stay at an inn near the docks) . For noble team might want to stay at more expensive establishments.
And being able to furnish your digs and keep momentos of prior victories would be nice.

We actually need to rent out a suite, four characters, a dog, owlbear, volo, withers, oathbreaker...and will likely have more followers by act 2. How about a small keep?

Yes, Bex and Danis will be at the Elfsong Tavern, and we'll find Lakrissa somewhere, too.

I had a very similar thought recently. One of the "things" that create an immersive environment for me is the old trope of the golden glow inside/outside an Inn. Preferably on a quite but windswept forest track smile You just know something interesting is going on in there....

One of the aspects of Taverns that BioWare kind of started to use was the "rumors" option to see if you could get some information at the bar. This is an old D&D aspect going back at least as far as Keep on the Borderlands. BioWare used it mostly for giving some info on the area news stories and once in a while some quest information, but a lot of that was really kind of superfluous because those things have other triggers anyway.

The things I would have liked to see in the tavern "rumors" would be tips on combat tactics and quest solutions! These tips could be embedded into local tales and folklore, so that they are not too blunt like the examples I am about to give. The ol' "gotta use fire or acid on trolls" is always a good tip, but there are so many other tips like how to avoid the winter wolf frost breath, beware the confusion power of the mushroom men, take the left-side path to sneak in to the enemy camp, a Ring of Shooting Stars is known to be lost in sea caves, the leprechauns may barter with kegs of pecan-flavored ale, there is an unusual collection of statues (i.e., petrified people) at the foot of the drawbridge, etc. I do not have BG III yet, is anything like this in the early release version?

Great ideas.

I'd love to see Inn's but can't see how they will fit into Larian's perma-daylight world. It would be a huge disappointment if we all we can do is rest in them and not actually experience a drunken, rowdy late night tavern.
