Wouldn’t it be cool if dancing were added to performance or simply available to all characters?

I was playing with my daughter last night and with Eagle Splendor up, decided to perform to get gold out of Priestess Gut’s goblins and nearby Zhents. My daughter wanted to help by dancing, but all she could do was kind of war pose.

Maybe just sway or clap along, or actual moves for performance skilled.

Anyway, just a thought.

I would go a step further and say that we lack emotes as a whole. This is an obvious missing feature in a role-playing game.

In a mmorpg in which you have social interractions with a lot of human players it would be... in a solo game / multiplayer up to 4 players game you're talking with on discord / coop game players are sat right next to each other : it's not.

OP : your sister can learn to play music with a feat at level 4.
You can create a band, which is already a useless feature that players won't enjoy for more than 1 minute on average.

Create a feature allowing characters to dance would be the same : a waste of time.

I agree, emotes in general would be nice, especially in multiplayer games.

Ngl emotes are mostly a meme purpose, never seen the need for them either. ^^ Not in BG3 at least.

Alt+ left click in the inventory on an item while the camp stash is opened transfers the item there. Make it a reality.

In a single player campaign, I do not miss them either, but in a multiplayer campaign, it could be nice to have some basic gestures, mostly for communication.

I haven't tried the multiplayer mode in BG3 yet, but when I play other games with friends, at least one person experiences issues with Discord, so a little fallback system would be nice.

Dance can just be a performance variant. Same with singing, or acting out a play, or reading poetry. Bards can do that.

As for emotes, I don't see the utility outside of group multiplayer, and even in multiplayer, the usefulness is very limited. Maybe if there were some basic gestures to convey meaning to players. Perhaps some NPCs could react to certain gestures. I would like to give the middle finger and for an NPC to either be offended or give it back.

Yes but what kind of dancing? You put modern dance bits - aka Fortnight - into this and it will just feel odd and be immersion breaking. So Ballroom dancing? Two-step? Tango?

Maybe a WoW sort of thing where - every race and gender gets a different dance?

yeah, just the old clap and step is probably fine.

Two emotes I'd like to see is great joy (for victory) and great sorrow (for party member fallen).

Yeah, it's a limited use feature, only for a bit of immersion. I'm only talking about if their choreographers and animators have extra stuff already mostly done. If I had to choose between this and say ironing out kinks in the Raphael plot, I'd choose the latter of course.

Agree that if anything it should probably be a use of performance skill or Performer feat.

If it were implemented, have obvious scenes where NPCs ntice and interact; the victory party at camp, saving the myconids, dance floor in Elfsong Inn in Baldur's Gate, heck - maybe even the harpies? (auto-failure to their charm!)

Type of dance? A mash-up. Dance scene from A Knight's Tale springs to mind; medieval line dancing but with David Bowie (a fav of mine!).

I thought we / they already did dance. Don't the characters dance / sway when a bard is performing? I'm sure they do because I found it ridiculous. I could just picture some awkward office workers in motion capture gear swaying bobbing their heads, looking like they were trying to be cool at a middle school dance. No?
