I've played this game for 293 hours and it's due to the ucrtbase.dll error causing the game to crash in different areas, mainly during the hag play through and in the underdark...all due to this same error. After it crashes the saved game I was playing on becomes corrupted.
I have two computers I'm playing on. A windows 10 pc and and brand new windows 11 gaming laptop and have had the same error on both computers.
This is what I have done to try to resolve the error without luck.

Run the steam file check for BG3
Uninstalled the game and wiped all files (Larian and Steam) from both computers and reloaded.
Wiped the pc and reloaded windows 10.
Disabled cross saves
Run the game in both dx11 and Vulcan
Run sfc /scannow and Repair-WindowsImage -Online -RestoreHealth through PowerShell on both computers
Uninstalled C++ and reloaded
Made sure ALL of my drivers are up to date

The crash report to send to the devs that comes up when the game crashes always has 0 crash reports found so I can't send them an error report although I have typed in the issue I am having.

I don't know what else to do. Is this a common issue with this game that has to be fixed by the devs?
Any help would be appreciated

What apps you have installed that are present on both your W10 and W11? Considering your symptoms and the variables I would wager it's a third party app that conflicts with steam. I would try to clean some of these applications or all, and launch steam and the game in a different compatibility mode.

As a last resort, uninstall the game on both PC's, uninstall steam on both, cleanup your AppData/local/ files on both PCs. There are some cache files for BG3 and steam here which might conflict and if you play from two devices but use same account some that are corrupt might be shared.
Then install steam and the game on only one PC. And create a new profile see if it still happens.

1 if you have crosssave disabbled how are you playing on both systems... do you mean each computer is running a different character?
2 where is Steam installed and what folder is the game in i.e, D steam and D games Bg3 for example?

ucrtbase.dll = your system is missing a file or it told the game to F-off when it tried to read that files... as the game actually starts and plays then its the 2nd one in this case

what it could be so far;
you are swapping files between W11 and w10... that will case this error but cross-saves are fine i.e, if you are actually copy the saves onto a usb stick and pasteing them across platforms then stop

your game or Steam is installed to C program files... as any user knows putting any software into this folder is asking Microsoft to take charge of it i.e, stuff your shit up

your W11 system is user locked i.e, onedrive has some of the files or some 3rd party software like an antivirus is blocking it

it coulld be faulty hardware... note these are in order

p.s, it could also be your system just ran out of puff because it got hot or was running other apps in the background but i would expect a crash report in that case

Both Computers are free of apps outside of adobe, CCleaner, and what comes auto loaded. When I did the reinstall of both games I cleared all the files, both steam and Larian, via appdata/local files.

The issue started on the Windows 10 computer last year and I had completed all the steps above in my original post but it kept happening. I just received my new laptop a few weeks ago and the game progressed nicely until the hag and underdark.

When the new games started from the fresh reinstall I chose not to use crossover (the initial pop up when you start the game). I though this disabled crossover. Am I not correct in this? I am able to play the same characters on both computers.

Regarding the game being installed on the C drive, is there a way to install it on another drive if I only have one? Would I have to partition the drive?

I've run the game with my antivirus disable (Webroot) with the same issues. Unsure on how to correct the onedrive issue if that is the cause. Disable it?

I don't feel it's hardware as it's occurring on both computers and both computers are pretty buffed. Have no issue running the game on ultra graphics - no overheating issues - I keep an eye on this.

step 1 - open the game and click "options" the first [default tab] is "gameplay" and "cross save" is the 4th tick box down... as you say they are the same characters i'm going to assume this box is ticked, personally i'd untick it while playing and then tick it once finished to then upload your saves so your network isn't working in the background while you are playing but thats me

step 2 - the third tab across says "video" it should list your actual Gpu not an intergrated chip and i want you to change the "Overall Quality" to "Medium"... once this is done hit "apply" at the bottom to comfirm the changes then see if the game still cashes when ever you getto the Hag fight

some other points;
you don't have anything installed to C drive because Windows doesn't allow that, it must be C folder so C Steam or C Games is fine... as long as its not c program files i.e, "program files" is the key words and you don't want things [anything at all] installed in there

you could disable onedrive or just move the game files out but i would do more testing before trying that
