So I'm kinda curious if by full release, what things should we let go of? I have very high hopes for this game after playing EA a few times and I already consider it to be quite good, even though I'm practically itching for going beyond lvl5 and playing some new cool race or class (hello, Monk, where are you?). Frankly, I'm just growing restless. I want to play this game in full release right now so that the suspense of finding out whether all my high hopes will be fullfilled are not killing me. I know, I know, I shouldn't be this invested in a video game, but I really can't help myself.
I'm already preparing myself for certain things that are not going to make the cut and I'm trying to come to terms with these realities. Even if no other race or class would be added, this would already be a great game, but anyway, here' a list of things I sincerely believe we are not going to get, or are CUT completely from the game:
Multiclassing: I think there is genuinely zero chance this will make it into the final game. I think it would be literally too good to be true, and we already have Magic Initiate feats for those who just want to "dip" into another class for some magical abilities. Hexblade Warlock: I think it's not happening. Wyll initally gave me hope that it's going to come, because of his nickname, but more and more, the story seems to be tied up with the Hells and Mizora being Wyll's patron makes it seem likely that we are only going to get the baseline Warlock subclasses. Playable races: I think we will get half-orc, dragonborn and that's it. I must confess this is one of the hardest things for me to let go of, because there are so many races I wish were playable, and I just don't see why they wouldn't do it, but regardless, I really think that we are not going to get Aasimar, Warforged, Duergar, Lizardfolk or Goblin. I also think humans are staying as they are and we porbably aren't going to get variant humans. Level 14+: I really think that being lvl 12 will be the peak of the power we can achieve in this game. Maybe if we farm every bit of exp we can get up to 14, but I don't expect to go right up to lvl 20. Probably not even up to 16.
What are you guys expecting to let go of with the release of the game?

Well ... We had confimation that certain members of team wanted to include Dinosaurs ... but Sven forbided it. We also know that in early versions of game, there was datamined tags of many races far beyond PHB (i dont want to say all ... but basicaly almost all) ... some of them was just that (a tag), and no implemented reactions trough EA were ever found, some even had some reactions datamined ... but after patch 4 or 5 (i believe), they all went missing from game files and only those that we have in EA remained. So that would be my guesses. //Edit: As for Multiclass ... That is something where is imho on the contrary almost certain it will be in final release. For one, it was multiple times confirmed by Larian and Sven himself ... so even if only to not make themselves oathbreakers, they really should fulfill this promise. For two, there is basicaly nothing holding it back, since we should have all classes ... and as stated somewhere in countless multiclass topics around here, if every class work separately, there is nothing stoping them working together. And finaly ... it would piss off many people, why would Larian undermine their product this way? //Edit: As for Hexblade ... Quite honestly, i dont know (duh), but i dont see any reason why they wouldnt be in game ... i mean, do they have sone extra special super unique mechanic that would require extra work? Since i dont really know this subclass, but they seems a lot like little different Eldrich Knight. //Edit: And as for levels 14+ ... We were told that max level will be 10 ... a little later, we were told that max level will be "somewhere abowe 10" ... my guess is fist level abowe 10, where we would learn another spell level. For one it would completely break ballance ... for two, it would add lots of additional work with animating, coding and sound...making for all new spells ... and over all it seems simplier and easier to just stop there. So my personal guess for level cap is 12 ... Since we are supposed to get "abowe 10" ... 11 is guaranted ... and 12 adds nothing new, except ASI/Feat ... wich can be copied from previous levels, so it dont bring any extra work. Anyway, what i wanted to say to this topic, is that im not really sure if its fair to say that levels 14+ "will be cut out" ... if they were never even planned in the first place.

I agree with what Rag is saying for the most part, except the bit about Hexblade. Hexblades are a warlock patron and so would require the same amount of time and effort as the other subclasses, and since a lot of subclasses seem to have their own unique reactions and such, I do think it would be enough that they might not want to include it. Though I do think that saying it's cut is like saying Levels 14+ are cut, they were never promised in the first place.
I also really doubt Variant human won't show up simply because there's no reason it wouldn't. It's literally just tweaking the numbers of character stats. It's basically a subrace but without having to alter any visuals. Lots of people want it, it's basically an easy win for them.
As for things I'm giving up on, I'm giving up on our Tav having real variety in how they communicate and how their personality can come across. I realized that if I compare the game on a roleplay level to Mass Effect or The Witcher, then that's a more accurate comparison than comparing it to PoE or Pathfinder. And on that level, the game does provide way more roleplay than the former two games.

I am really hoping for a documentary about the making of BG3. The processus of making and promoting it sounds like an adventure in itself.

Hexblades are a warlock patron and so would require the same amount of time and effort as the other subclasses, and since a lot of subclasses seem to have their own unique reactions and such I must freely admit that i dont remember single Warlock reaction in whole game specific to Fiend or GOO ... there is several dialogue choices for Warlocks in general, but thats all i remember. O_o

I'm assuming that the subclasses will have their own unique dialogue since that seems to be a consistent feature of the classes that have been added in the various patches, with the first classes released with EA being more limited in that regard. But I could be wrong.

Well I only expected phb races, no hexblade. Based on what we've seen and heard I'm expecting max LVL around 13-14. There's some code about multiclassing. That's something im not ready give up on. Modders have already added classes, spells and Feats etc. Larian is best to add the multiclassing system.
Being able save characters in CC, take your character into MP games etc . I requested these features but never expected it anyway!

But I could be wrong. The more i think about it ... The more i realize that i dont really recall any subclass-specific reaction ... The only exception is [BERSERKER] tag ... wich gives you saving throw in some dialogues, to control your rage ... advantage to Intimidation almost everywhere (still hate it) ... and really different (and oftem much stupider) dialogues than [BARBARIAN]. OH! And [DRACONIC BLOODLINE] when you talk to shovel! But thats all.

But thats all. Wild magic has some too, according to this outdated dialogue options report : https://wiki.fireundubh.com/baldursgate3/dialogue-options

Hmm ... Ok, i stand corected on this one. Still i feel like this kinda prooves that creating another subclass dont necesarily need special reactions.

Why are we still in the dark on ALL classes, levels, spells, kits just 3 month before release? These should be 100% known by now. We should have some more area teasers too. IMHO. I just do not understand Larian's way of promoting this game. Which is mainly silly comedy skits on social media, kids art, and a stripped down highly controlled EA.
The only earth shattering <SURPRISE> would be them including a boat load of extra classes, NPCS and races..and thats not happening so why don't they just spill the beans on whats available.
Baldur's gate 3 is coming, and I am 0% immersed nor excited to jump into this Faerun universe.
All new Athkatlan Grounds series mods being made for Baldur's Gate 2 is getting me more excited right now. And EET development (linked BG1, BG2, ToB, Dragonspear into one game using the BG2EE engine, one map to freely go wherever).

It just reminded me of the bowl of goat's milk that old Winthrop used to put outside his door every evening for the dust demons. He said the dust demons could never resist goat's milk, and that they would always drink themselves into a stupor and then be too tired to enter his room..

We are now less than 4 months until release and I wonder everyday if they will finally start the marketing machine by revealing what people have been desperately asking for now 3 years. They have tons of things left to reveal : subclasses, remaining class, remaining race, remaining companions, multiclassing, in-game Baldur city, act 1B, tons of QoL and comunity feedback, remaining character customisation options, and I probably missed a lot of them... I guess they want to keep the surprise until launch? Or maybe they are on a very tight schedule? Who knows.

The area I expect the most disappointment for myself is the final amount of recruitable companions.
I also am preparing myself for the game's complexity to dip after act1.
I expect PHB races and classes and nothing beyond that.
I would be surprised if multiclassing wasn't present in 1.0. Its been confirmed multiple times throughout development, and it should be a fair return on the investment as it utilises already crafted classes.

Another thing I'm afraid of is an unstisfctory or uninteresting storyline. I love both Divinity games, but the story never interested me, it never really grasped me, and I'm really hoping they will pull some really good writing with this one. Im genuinely happy with the combar system in this game, so thats something, but I really want the story to be radically interesting and just pull me in. Another thing I'm scared of is the number of available deities in-game. We have quite a few major deities available for clerics (but they shouldn't just be for clerics though), but the dwrven and elven pantheons only have the chief god available for worship. Obviously the problem lies in D&D having hundreds of deities, meaning that its going to be unlikely that they are all included, but I think it would still be kinda nice to see more of them. For example, Eldath is alredy present on the druid frescos but she is not avilable for worship. The elemental deities (Akadi, Kossuth, Grumbar and Isisthia) are not avilable either, even though Kossuth is taking a very active interest in cultivating a strong base of followers and a very active church on the material plane. I guess I just want too much out of the game

We might get more via DLC and/or Expansions to be fair.

Obviously the problem lies in D&D having hundreds of deities, meaning that its going to be unlikely that they are all included Lazy solution would be to add option "other" ... with suboption for Evil, Neutral and Good ... It would get no responces, and deity-specific animations wouldnt contain any markings ... but at least people would have some kind of option to express themselves.
