Hey guys,
Just to show what I managed to do with items sets through modding and what I'd like them to be in the game at release.
Currently I really don't like sets much in the game.
It often require the player to do actions that have no other purpose than to make the sets work and a lot of efforts to manage charge / items synergies.
It is a lot too complicated in my opinion and the tons of bonuses you can have a way or another don't really worth the efforts to me. Items sets really define how characters should be played or build and this is something I don't like.
I created 3 sets of items currently (2 parts only, I'll add more parts fot other sets).
All items are usefull magical items you can equip when you find them but when you have other parts of the set : you gain new spells or skills.

One of the main goal is to make them as usefull as possible for various classes.
- Wilderness set is druid inspired but may be usefull for all casters as the raven wildshape gives good evasion / movement skills.
- Flame Blade set would be usefull for all dual wielder characters no matter their class.
- Lightning set is usefull to many class and build too... even a bard could enjoy wearing it.
Another goal was to give balanced but powerfull skills/spells. All new spells :
- Have a cooldown. You can use them once / long rest
- Can be used for free (no action / bonus action / Spellslots,...)
- Have 100% chance to hit
I tried to create a visual identity for each sets with the color glowing, but I also tried to create a visual identity for "spells that are unlocked through items".
On your hotbar those skills have the same icons than spells already in the game, but with a bluish background color (see fire resistance / burning ray on the blades tooltip).
This helps to manage the hotbar and to understand that this is not "usual" spells.
I also tried to make these items appealing over time. You may not want to drop your sets bonuses even if you find an item that feels more powerfull.
Now I'm going to work on 3 armor sets (light, medium, heavy) composed of 4 parts each that will unlock a bonus when you wear 2 and another one when you wear 4.
Anyway that's just a first test but it looks really appealing to me.
Maybe not perfectly balanced and uninspired for names and lore description (missing for now) but it was a lot of fun and it is very satisfying to have done this.
If some of you are inspired for others sets of items feel free to tell me. Really sad GM4 is not coming here anymore because I'm sure he would have had a lot to say
