Hello,
I don't think this topic was already addressed, but in BG1, BG2 & ToB, and other RPG games like Solasta, there is a very simple but satisfying exploration feature that is really missing in BG3.

Being able to click on the map and the characters walk there.

It's sometimes messy to move in complex 3D environnements (myconid village) or sometimes we just don't want to bother to click every 5 meters and it's simply pleasant, adjust constantly the angle of view to manage to see where is the next place to click, and it's satisfying and relaxing just to click far and let the characters just go to the remote place.

I'm totally puzzled why we don't have it in Baldur's Gate 3, but I do think it would be a great addition and a requirement of any exploration RPG 3D game.

Dear Larian team, I really do hope that you will see my suggestion and take it in account approvegauntlet galehearteyes

Ah, yes. That's what I call "medium-fast travel". I'm all up for it.

I would like to point out, though, that we are in Forums > General > Suggestions. I don't know how thoroughly Larian's feedback gatherers read this (if at all).

The best place on this forum to post suggestions is in Forums > Baldur's Gate III > Baldur's Gate III - Suggestions & Feedback.

Thanks for highlighting that! I’ve moved the thread accordingly.

Regarding clicking on the map to move, that’s definitely something I use in other games, particularly when I’ve largely cleared an area, and I’m sure I’ve more than once tried in BG3 before recalling it doesn’t work.

There may be niggles when clicking on a part of the map that there’s no automatic pathfinding option for (eg it requires a jump) but I’m sure that could be dealt with by a pop up message. In short, this would be a nice-to-have in my book.

To be honnest, in my humble opinion the map of the area is so horrible currently (to look at, to understand) that it would not help me at all.
The map is not that big and the fast travel system already allow us to move very close from where we are. There are something like 45 seconds between point A and point B.

The issue is the map itself in my opinion and the fast travel names.
Nothing on it reminds players what they saw... Village does not look like village, statues does not look like statue, mill does not look like mill, the big inn just looks like a brownish shape.... how the hell could we understand the structure of the world with such a map ?

On top of that some waypoints just mean nothing except in devs heads. "Teahouse" seriously... that's a swamp ! "Overgrown ruins"... man that's a beach !
With a lot of improvement on the map I guess exploration and "re-exploration" would be a lot smoother.

I could also have written about rivers and bridges that just does not look at all like rivers and bridges.
No mater what, it is just tedious to understand how the world is build and this has consequences on the way players experience travels in the area.

This is what I'd like, but it would require a zoom on the area to understand the act 1 map properly.
Oh, and such a beautifull map for the underdark too. Beautifull maps like this would gives the game so much of a good vibe !

Thanks for all the raised points and opinions, they are valid.
Yes I'm also puzzled sometimes by the name of the travel points. I presume that they chose the names like 2 or 3 years ago and the game changed so much since, but it was not updated accordingly. Anyway now I know them by heart but for the future new players it can be a bit surprising.

Regarding my original request, I would say that it's better to have too much options than not enough, it's a basic functionnality (might be more complicated to program, though)

We can already browse relatively far in live game and click there, but it's rather tedious because we have to turn and regularly change the angle, altitude, change again, etc. And we cannot always navigate visually up to where we want to go.
It works already by clicking far with this method, and the characters stop to walk if there is a wall or else, so I feel like the hardest part of the functionnality is already done

So, if it's in most cRPG, especially ALL the other Baldur's Gate games, I see no valid reason that it would be absent in such a masterpiece of game.

Please Larian Studios wave, you went already so far, don't miss out this very convenient, satisfying and useful feature thankyou approvegauntlet

Definitely agree the area map is dreadful in EA and hope it’ll be improved.

Wasn't improved after EA for DOS1 and DOS2...same kind of "fungus" growth map.

That amazing looking fast travel world map is the MOST BALDUR'S GATE thing that Larian designed for the entire game. USE IT more!! Hire that intern who designed it and triple his/her salary wink Thats the kind of quality lore stuff I am looking for in BG game.

I have a feeling its a problem of game programmers <designing> in game stuff (that horrible map, I guess its useful if your making the game??)) versus an actual artist designing than asking programmers that implement the design smile

It just reminded me of the bowl of goat's milk that old Winthrop used to put outside his door every evening for the dust demons. He said the dust demons could never resist goat's milk, and that they would always drink themselves into a stupor and then be too tired to enter his room..

*bump*
I hope that this functionnality will be added, in order to fit with Baldur 1 & 2.
I don't know if there is a topic where are listed suggestions that are accepted
I presume that we will see in the next patch, if it's the case.

This is a good place - mods collect feedback and pass it along. You can also submit feedback directly to Larian through "feedback" option in game's launcher.

However, BG3 launches at the end of August - less than three months from now. The last EA patch was in December and the game is in final stages of development. As such if I were you I would brace for disappointment but, of course, it never hurts to ask.

I’m afraid that it’s unlikely that we’ll get any confirmation on whether this functionality will be in the game before release in August and Larian don’t comment on individual suggestions, of which many, many have been made here. These will have been read and considered but all we can do now is be patient and watch out for upcoming updates and trailers, and the game itself now less than three months away!
