I remember back in February it said something like we can play Baldur's Gate 3 72 hours early if we had it pre-ordered. So basically instead of playing it on the 31st we could start playing it on the 28th. However, I started to get a little worried recently because I hadn't seen this mentioned a lot. I went to try and dig up this info again and it looks like PS players will get this, and only for Act 1. So my questions are:

Will PC players get this? If yes, will this be different than the current EA? For example, I would expect that we can pre-install the full version of the game so we can have 72 hour early access to Act 1 with the full game instead of the EA versions we currently have. Or will PC players not get this 72 hour access and still only have the current version of EA until the 31st?

I am hoping for the former, but again, I can't find any solid info on this so I wanted to be sure.

they said it clearly in the Steam news. PC will get 72 hrs Act 1 early access if you own the game already, as owning the game now grant you free upgrade to digital deluxe.
and it will be different from the current EA because the current EA is a portion of the actual Act 1. You will have access to the real and full content of act 1 on August 28th.

I was reminding myself of this not all that long ago, but foolishly didn't keep a record of the links.

I'm pretty sure that everyone who has preordered (including PC players) will get full access to the release day version of act 1, ie not early access patch 9, on 28 Aug. I'll try to dig out the references.

Do you have a link to that?

I was looking at this:

Specifically this part has me questioning what is going on:

Do you already own Baldur’s Gate 3 on PC? Are you planning to purchase it in Early Access before launch? You’re going to get a free upgrade to the Digital Deluxe edition on launch day
This does not mention 72 hour early access and instead says we will be getting the upgrade on launch day instead.

I'll agree that I find it a bit confusing, but the current Collector's Edition website says "All of the Digital Deluxe Edition DLC content is also included with the Collector’s Edition, which gives you 72 hours Early Access, a unique dice skin, a collection of Divinity-inspired items, and the Adventurer’s Pouch, along with the digital downloadable OST, Artbook and Character Sheets. In addition, Collector’s Edition owners will receive an exclusive in-game skin based on the physical Metal D20.".

Salo also confirmed here that the free Digital Edition upgrade would be applied for Early Access players on 28 August.

Interestingly, there's no mention on the latest CE website of the the 72 early access being just for act 1, which I'll admit always seemed something that it would be unnecessarily tricky to implement. I have my fingers crossed that we'll simply get access to the full game 72 hours early even though I doubt I'll get through all of act 1 in three days anyway! Though I see that the PS5 store Digital Deluxe Edition info does still mention act 1 early access. I can't find any info about the PC/Mac version of the Digital Deluxe edition specifically on the Larian website beyond that bit on the CE page, and the GOG and Steam pages still just have the Early Access links, where obviously you can't buy the Digital Deluxe version separately as everyone who buys the Early Access version gets a free upgrade anyway!

Perhaps we'll get a definitive steer at the next PFH in July.

Thank you, seeing the reply from the Community Manager has assuaged my fears for this.
