I have compiled a list of tweaks that are very minor – I think they are all reasonable to be implemented within the next 2 months, although I’m sure Larian already has some in the works (especially the inventory QoL). The latest EA patch feels very polished, and I really don’t think there are any glaring issues. These are just things that I think could be slightly improved. What are your thoughts, anything I’ve missed?
1. Better hair colors – currently, all the hair colors are very bright. They don’t match the swatch colors well, which ends up disappointing – especially if you’re going for a darker color. For example, red 6 looks like a dark maroon in the swatch, but when you apply it in character creation it appears as a bright, apple red. Red 6 on a character looks more like what you would expect from the red 4 swatch. This is consistent across the board with expected dark colors like violet 6 and green 6. Also, as a ginger IRL, it is very difficult to get actual ginger hair in-game. Colors orange 1-6 are straight up varying shades of yellow. Colors ginger 1-3 and brown red 1-5 are all way too pink. There’s nothing that is orange enough to look like realistic ginger hair. I would love to see the hair colors adjusted to better match what you would expect from their swatches and names. Also, for the highlight colors to be consistent with the main hair colors.
2. The expand tooltip & show world tooltip keybinds – these are by default the left alt key. I very desperately would like for them to be toggleable. Currently, you must hold the key down the entire time, which I find myself doing A LOT as I don’t like to miss lore books / notes in dark corners. It gets old having to hold the left alt key down so often. I think it would be a big QoL improvement to instead make it a toggle, where you only have to tap the key once to make the tooltips permanently on or off.
3. Fashion – the outfit and armor models in-game are incredibly well done. Unfortunately, sometimes you end up with combinations that look very bad. I often find gloves or boots that don’t match well with equipped armor and must choose between looking nice and having good gear. We need to either have cosmetic slots or the ability to dye gear. Cosmetic slots would probably be easier to implement unless the models were made with dyeing in mind from the start.
4. Inventory QoL – my main issue with the current inventory system is how rapidly keys and lore books / notes accumulate. The keys are primarily a visual annoyance, but the books / notes are difficult to fully appreciate because of this. I usually pick up every book and note I find because I like to re-read them, especially if I find something that helps me better understand the context. It is a pain to scroll through all the books and notes in my inventory to find the one I want. The keys could be solved by some sort of key ring feature. The books and notes could have something similar, maybe a spell you cast or a lexicon that can store and recall anything your character has read in the past.
5. Mage hand – this one I just think would be fun, providing new and creative ways to problem solve. I would love to see the mage hand gain a bit more functionality. Mainly the ability to push buttons and pull levers.
