Decided to go back and play through the intro again and I'm still running into some problems. Gonna put them here as they are all kinda scattered about.

1) That Intelect Devourer fight as soon as you wake up from the crash is really harsh, especially if you aren't a big fighty type. I've died to it several times. Yes, I'll eventually beat it but for an 'easing you into the game fight' it's pretty tough, especially if you are like . . . a strength ranger because your AC is trash in your leather armor, or if you are a wizard, or whatever. Back in update 7 it was a lot easier.

2) Just ran into this problem in multiple games: I'll buy stuff from the Zentiem, It'll act like a sucessful transaction . . . but they won't give me the items. Just lost like 2000 gold for buying the +1 studded leather armor for Wyll and a +1 dagger.

3) Volo refuses to come to my camp. In multiple playthroughs now I'll clear the camp of goblins, talk to Volo, he says he'll come to my camp . . . and then he just sits there in the Goblin ruins and yells at me for looting dead goblin bodies. Won't even let me grab stuff from the dead Goblin vendor that kept him hostage!? What the hells Volo?

4) Multiple times random groups will agro on me for no reason. Both in the Zhentium camp and in the Druid Grove, I'll be walking around, not clicking on anything, and all of the sudden "Your actions have garnered negative attention" and the entire camp goes hostile! I WAS JUST WALKING TO THE EXIT GUYS!

1) You are referring to Us? I take it with me 95% of the time.

2) Never experienced that

3) Never experienced that. Try talking past the goblins, then free Volo, invite him to your camp, after a long rest he should show up.

4) Summons (or the druid tadpole form) can sometimes aggro npc's. And its easy to accidentally click on the ground and grab a red item.

4) In the Druid Grove others often reported the problem, if Nettie is alive and you disarm the secret door to the Underground passage and / or the traps there, then she becomes hostile and with her all the other Druids. I always killed her in the chamber when she wanted to poison me and then there was no problem. With the Zhentarim there is a passage protected by an illusion to an elevator that leads to the Underdark and as soon as you enter this passage, the near Zhentarim become hostile.

1) If you go on 1v3 Meele ... then yes, it can be hard ...
Thats why every companion (and i believe even your Tav when you are alone at this point) tells you "better keep your/mine distance, one strike can be lethal" ...
Then it depends on how much you wish to cheese it ... it can be quite hard, but also very, VERY easy ... for example, you can dip your arrow in fire and blow up that illithid canister. wink That will reduce them a lot.
But overall, if you fight from max range they rarely manage to get to you.

2) Never happened to me either.

3) The trick here is leting him escape ... all things Goblin have on them are marked as "owned" meaning you are not looting, you are stealing ... and NPCs react to stealing
You stole too soon > his escape routine was replaced by "expose a thief" routine. wink
Im not really sure its a bug, since this technicaly work as intended ... more like, unfortunate combination of consequences ... but maybe Larian could implement some kind of unmarking things as owned, when owner is dead. laugh
Meanwile ... just give him enough time to get lost and it should be fine. wink

4) Have you used Friends cantrip in last few minutes? laugh

1) Thanks for the tip about the illithid canister. But I still think this fight is too tough given how early it appears in the game and could frustrate new players, so should be reset to how it was in patch 7.

2) I reconfirmed the problem purchasing the studded leather +1 and dagger +1 last night. The gold would vanish and I’d get the sound effect, but the items didn’t appear in my inventory. I had to reload a number of times before the transaction succeeded. Has no one else had this problem?

3) Volo is still not coming to my camp. I have spoken to him and invited him a number of times and he says he’ll join me, but just stands around looking at dead goblins. No matter how many times I long rest he doesn’t turn up.

4) I definitely didn’t use the Friends spell or go into any secret areas, and so far have only noticed this problem in the Zhentarim hideout and Druid Grove.

(Gah, gah, gah, just realised I edited instead of quoted Degausser's previous post. The danger of moderator privileges. While I see if there's any way to get that back, here's my take in a separate post as I intended ...)

My take ...

1) I admit I've rarely had trouble with the intellect devourers, given the game does give you that hint to stay at range, but hopefully Larian have been collecting game data and will rebalance if evidence is that folk have found it problematic. And worse comes to worst, hopefully there'll be difficulty settings in the final game, though people having to mess around with difficulty settings due to odd difficulty spikes is certainly something games should be trying to avoid.

2&3)I've never seen these bugs. It may be worth submitting them with your save file to Larian support via their form, though obviously the version of the game they're now working on is radically different from the patch 9 we're still playing so it may not be relevant any more. Your call!

4) This probably is related to the known bug with overly sensitive NPCs in patch 9 (the deep gnomes in Grymforge have also caused many folk problems), so it's reasonably safe to say we can expect a fix with the full release.

"You may call it 'nonsense' if you like, but I've heard nonsense, compared with which that would be as sensible as a dictionary!"
