Well, that was anti-climactic. I think the thing that annoys me most about all of this is just how willing the detective seems to thrust himself into potentially dangerous situations without any form of protection or self defense. It feels like Nancy Drew was thrown into Friday the Thirteenth.
But hey, maybe we just met the last origin character.
Of course now that Tav is dead, it will now fall to his long lost brother, Gus, to save the day. I'll admit I think the ending was a bit anticlimactic too, but only because it seems like we were still in the process of our due diligence when the final confrontation occurred.
The implication from the video does seem to be that the Dragonborn serial killer is going to be the last origin character. I wonder how all the Astarion haters will take that. I'm guessing this is the origin character for, and parodying, a Murder-Hobo PC.
I'm trying to recall all the places we never got to, We never talked to the vomiting sailor, we never went to Eastward Expeditions, apartment of the widow and guard, the Harbormaster's Office, the Market Street butcher, the gambling den and money-lender. I think the only ones of them that would have given us something we can't deduce are the Harbormaster's Office and, now that we know Crane was murdered, Eastward Expeditions.
I wonder if it's connected to Bhaal? His symbol is a skull, right? The top-hatted man seemed to have a skull-painted face. The hat gives him a baron samedi vibe, but maybe the face paint is actually in honor of Bhaal?
And a final origin character. Maybe this white dragonborn? I would like it if this were the last origin character. I'm particularly fond of white dragonblood sorcerers, after all.
But another male?
Doesn't that throw off the balance?
Then I started wondering, what if the white dragonborn is actually Drusilla, having taken over his body?
That way, the final origin character is kinda male, kinda female. And interesting.

To me, it seemed more like they were showing the beginnings of a cult. Personally, I don't think that the Dragonborn will be our last origin character.

That would make sense! And maybe our murder mystery is even connected to the cult of the Absolute?

An entirely new Origin awaits. A new way of playing.
This in the video description is the implication. But yes it could be just a character who is in this Dragonborn's cult. or completely unrelated, we'll know soon enough.
I got a real sense of deja vu with the top hatted character. Have we seen something like that before? Also I'd like to point out that the animal on his top hat is clearly a snake, when it was described earlier as a aquatic animal and some feathered wings.
An entirely new Origin awaits. A new way of playing.

My bad, I watched the video in game, so I didn't see the video description. But I think that having the serial killer as an Origin character in the party would maybe be a bit controversial.
This is a very wild theory again, but could it be that, if the Dragonborn is indeed the missing origin character, that this is a character for players who want to play solo? Maybe even as an antagonist to the party? This would definitely be a new way of playing.

I was wondering that too. When I said it was for Murder-Hobo PCs I was talking about the people on the forum who have said they kill every origin character they meet as soon as possible. The ramifications of that for the story are pretty interesting, and maybe a little worrying.
And if they have a whole route for an origin character who is an antagonist to the others that would certainly be something. Not exactly interesting to me, but it would certainly make the "Evil Route" make more sense.

I find that the people on the forum who say they kill every origin are doing it because they don't like their evil, selfish, decietful tendencies. So if that's what Larian's trying to parody, then they're failing at that and completely missing the point, which does sound on brand for them. If they really wanted to parody those people then this companion would be an intolerant paladin with utterly no patience or sense of real compassion. Probably an oathbreaker who broke his oath for not showing any compassion.
An entirely new Origin awaits. A new way of playing.

Video:
...he might be right. This is the video description:
"As you step into the killer’s lair, your fate is sealed. Blood and darkness. A shadow over Baldur’s Gate.
An entirely new Origin awaits. A new way of playing. "
The final illustration looks as if the top-hat guy is coming out of the dragonborn, or manipulating him - maybe you get to play as The Absolute, puppeteering a body and playing against the party.
Or, maybe, there are two Origin characters -the Helia that was announced and this other one, that would change the way the game is played.

Working against the other players in multiplayer?
I wasn't think multiplayer, but a scenario where say, you're put nearer the goblins, and the other origin characters, who are just NPCs now, go through a version of the Grove quest, so you're at odds with them, probably killing them in the process, like you do Wyll if you never recruit him before attacking the grove.
When I said Parodying murderhobos I was talking about that phenomona in D&D not specifically the people in the EA who have been playing through the first act so many times they've turned the game into Westworld.
What if the final origin character is this "Absolute weapon" that everyone keeps talking about in Act 1?
You know, the Beautiful Woman who crashed on the same nautiloid as us, and that everyone started following? It sounds like she has the ability to puppeteer people, and to always stay one step ahead of the party. Perfect for a hidden antagonist.
We assume that it is the mystery box that Shadowheart is carrying (and that the Gythianki are desperately looking for) but they actually seem to be two distinct elements. It's also NOT Wyll's Special Lady; she's always treated as a prisoner in dialogue.
No, that's not Karlach since she's got one broken horn. And the woman's hair looks too blonde whenit's supposed to be black. Andthe supposed Gale? hy would they put him in such unusual outfit. Hell, Karlach's gotten herself a new, super distinct look in the reveal the other day. Why wouldn't they pull that in for this piece?
Those are Gale, Karlach and Shadowheart, am I right?
I dunno ...
This "Karlach" bave both horns ... "Shadowheart" is blonde ... And "Gale" is also blonde, and dont look much like himself, also is he wearing leather armor? O_o
I would bet on Zevlor with Tiefling ... the others? NO idea.
I still dont understand why cant we change Race for our hirelings. Lets us play Githyanki as racist as they trully are!
