Has there been any indication on players being able to choose a home location other than Baldur's Gate?

I ask because there are several conversations that allow you to respond with the Baldurian tag, which seems mildly redundant if all of our characters are from there.

I don't feel super strongly either way, but I do think it could be interesting if you had different location options based on race. For example: Drow, Duergar, and Deep Gnomes could have underdark as an option.

Underdark tags are already a thing. Gith also get a different tag, though I'm not sure what it is.

I hope there are several options depending on the background you choose.

Really??? I did a partial playthrough (up to the goblin camp) as a Drow sorcerer and don't recall seeing that tag. I haven't created a Gith PC yet, so I not aware of those tags.

Seldarine or Lloth-sworn? I remember the tag showing up on the latter, but not the former. Of course things have probably changed since I stopped playing EA.

I honestly can't remember as that play through was a couple months ago, but probably Seldarine which would possibly explain why I didn't see it (sorcerer also just wasn't the class for me, hence me stopping that run). If that is the case that's great, but I would like to have more options ideally. Like what if Druid or Rangers can be from a nearby forest or grove.

In BG i would like the option to have different camp locations for mechanical and roleplay reasons.
Eg my assassins like to hangout near the thieves guild.
Noble character have a keep.
Clerics can stay at a temple.

Either way i would like the option to add: traders, trainers, crafters, companions etc to the camp.

And the option to furnish your camp would be good.

Would be cool if each background told us the location we hail from and/or let us choose where available.

Like, you choose a noble background and then you get to choose a larger city along the Sword Coast or some prominent race-specific location.

Or the option to choose none for certain backgrounds - choosing to be a vagabond and not see any tags in dialogues.

This is a topic that came up a couple of times already.
My take remains more or less the same: my personal interpretation of that tag was always that "You are a Baldurian only if you choose to pick the Baldurian line", but maybe I'm wrong and Larian chose to make it the default canon (or to even offer a choice on the matter, who knows).

Party control in Baldur's Gate 3 is a complete mess that begs to be addressed. SAY NO TO THE TOILET CHAIN
