Swen always said that his favourite character from DOSII was Lohse, the bard who was sometimes possessed by an evil entity very into commiting atrocities and making people riot and murder... and it looks like the Dark Urge is the even darker version of Lohse, maybe a Lohse who fell down the total posession hole and that "thanks" to the tadpole is gaining some control over her faculties.

The player can choose to lean into that bloodthirst, OR to try to fight all those voices and urges, like Lohse did.

Even in EA as an OC, you get these glimpses of "kill, maim, blood!" that everyone thought were connected to Astarion, but now we know it's a psychic connection to this Dark Urge person, wherever they are, probably through the telepathic tadpole.

I love it. I love the idea of a dark, dark Lohse. I thought that I would for sure play as a goodie to shoes OC, but the first run is going to be a temptation-filled Dark Urge one. So happy.

I dunno about Lohse, but I am pondering if this Dark Urge might be connected to Baal. Something like an unwilling Avatar.

He 100% is. In the new trailer the goblin is in a chamber with a giant Bhaal symbol saying “you are the chosen one,” as the Dark Urge stands over a glowing sigil of the Bhaal symbol and turns into the Slayer.

Feels like a mix of the Bhaalspawn from BG I+II and Lohse from DOS2.

So a third generation descendant of Abazigal --> Draconis --> The Dark Urge or at least one can make his own background around this.
