Look I found the myconid sex scene with Spaw and Glut really traumatizing. I didn't even know spores could be sprayed that way from those body parts.

Okay, it’s looking like we’re discussing everything else for now. Which is probably just as well as I’m pretty knackered and would need to read the bear thread through before reopening it.

As it is, I’m returning to the PFH day impressions thread I created and will continue answering everything I can there. If there are new questions posted there before I finish going through what’s there already, I’ll do my best to answer them too before crashing. And I’ll continue to prioritise discussion there until it feels as though I’ve exhausted all the possibly interesting info I managed to accumulate!

I’ll also try to catch up on other threads that have been active while I’ve been away and see if they discuss anything that I’m now able to throw any light on, but that might take a little while to do. So if there’s anything you want me to comment on more urgently I’d recommend sneaking it onto my impressions thread as well

I think we must talk about the bear sex first.
The moral issues it raises are more important not only then this video game but more important than our very lives.
It's pointless to talk about anything else until we all agree that bestiality is not only wrong but downright evil (yes, the moral relativists also have to make a special exception this once).
Besides evil, it's also an excellent way to stir up a lot of controvery and publicity right before release.
So I dunno, I guess that's just my take on this.

Moral issues?? It's a fantasy game with consenting adults who know what they are doing.

Game of Thrones is famous for having incest.

The Office has a main character who is an ignorant, racist horrible person who sexually harasses people.

Dexter makes killing okay because he's killing murderers.

Breaking Bad glorifies drug use.

Black Mirror... well that has ALL sorts of issues including the topic at hand.

That doesn't stop the shows from being good or interesting.

The one thing Baldur's Gate shares with all of the above? They are works of fiction.

Anyone who is hung up on this needs to take a step back and do some thinking about themselves.

Look guys, stop screaming about consent.
Consent is about adult human beings doing whatever they want together.
And guess what, 2 adult human beings who consent to have sex with each other can STILL BE DOING SOMETHING EVIL WHEN THEY DO IT WITH CONSENT.
Easy example: a married man and an unmarried woman both consent to have sex with each other. What they do is evil, no questions about it.
Consent does not morality make. Consent is a neccessary but insufficient component of acceptable sexual conduct.

Another thing: Screaming about how it's magic and how it's not real is like saying that trans-women are not real women.
Yes it is. Also, for the duration of the spell, Halsin is a real bear, with the attributes, the appearance and the essence of what a bear actually is.
So yes, it is beastiality.

I have read everything that you wrote both here and in the other thread, and your excuses are really bad. Having a libertine attitude about beastiality is just the best way for you to poke the bear (pun intended). I actually think most of you totally disagree with beastiality and just find this a fun way to annoy people who are outraged over this. I'm not outraged myself, I'm just putting my 2 cents out there. You can do whatever you want, although I will state that you shouln NOT do whatever you want when it's a vile and evil thing.

Single scene, that took just a few seconds, and was "decided by people, so their hands are clean" ... and WHOOOOOLE internet is talking about it.

Umm a man having sex with an unmarried woman is not evil. It might be a shitty thing to do if you are cheating on your wife, but not evil.

What?! Cheating on your wife is evil, you take vows and everything. This might be just my opinion though.

I think it's pointless to deny that treachery and abuse of trust is evil but if you wanna die on that hill, it's up to you.

As folk have pointed out - thank you! - this clearly is not the place to start trying to reopen the argument about that scene or indeed about anything at all other than the topic of this thread which is what we want to talk about first.

The vote has been pretty decisive so no more bear sex chat until I've finished sharing everything else I learned in that other thread mentioned. There won't be long to wait as I did only see one more presentation than you (which had a fair bit of overlap with the PFH) and play a (nearly complete?) version of the full game for what felt like a very short while. It's not going to take forever to just finish covering what I learned, so if you want to discuss Halsin's romance options than you just need to be a little patient.

We'll get there.

Btw, I'm rubbish at multitasking so if this thread or any others turn into discussions about bear sex I'm just going to lock them until I'm able to focus properly. Fair warning!
