There seems to be an assumption that TDU is absolutely the character from the Blood in Baldur's Gate game.

That wasn't mentioned in the PFH. Was there something in BiBG that clearly said "the murderer is the last origin character"?

Basically, is the idea that TDU a serial killer something officially communicated, or just an assumption?

Just an assumption.

We know there was a dark urge character in Baldur's Gate fifteen years ago. Was that the same character as us? We don't know.

Is that dark urge from the game related somehow to us? Again, we don't know. But I think "probably" is a good answer.

For all we know, the Dark Urge is a supernatural entity that flits to a fro looking for victims. Then it jumps into their heads and slowly drives them mad. It could be that this entity picks up a new host every few months or years or whatever.

Or it could be something else entirely.

Shrug. It's all guesswork right now based on the few things we do know.

An interesting thought I had about the ending of BiBG is that when the detective "dies" that might just be the dark urge taking over. The dying detective never actually sees anyone or anything there and the Dark Urge origin in the game definitely shows there's some amnesia going on there with the player character not remembering anything before the beginning of the game. Plus the detective in BiBG is never defined...we have no idea what race he is or what skills he might have, etc...that's all left to the player's imagination. So it might be a case of the detective from BiBG being the dark urge player character in game.
