I Am A Huge D&D Fan and Just hope they Keep Putting Out D&D Content. Forgotten Realms is My Favorite setting and its Soooo Huge they Can make a Game anwhere in Ferun ......
I can take or leave D&D, but I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the FR setting. It is my all-time favorite gaming setting. That's a huge part of why I'm so very sad (and bitter?) about BG3, because I don't expect another cRPG set in the FR being made (by anyone) anytime soon. And since I'm no spring chicken anymore and my clock is ticking away, I don't think I'll ever get another FR-setting cRPG before I die.
You could you know actually play the game you have built up so much vitriol against
You know give it a chance?
The opposite of love isnt hatred, its apathy, you you would post her daily for 3 years if some part of you didn't want this game. You
Why not give it a shot, what are you trying to prove? The games has already consumed hundreds of hours over your life. May as well play it.
See post I just made in the "Could BG3's ambition ..." thread.
But if made by Larian then it will be a repeat of BG3 and as such a game I will utterly dislike.
This may be true, but do tell - If you know this - what on earth are you doing here? Why punish yourself? Are you that sour you want to ruin the fun of others? I just don't get it.
I'm told ballet is fun, but I just can't get into it. It wouldn't cross my mind to go and tell ballet enthusiasts online how I dislike it. It just seems so... dumb, you know?
Okay folks, it’s the end of my day so have fun discussing the game for the next few hours.
And I’ll leave you with a reminder that if you want an antidote to negativity about the game the only effective one is to be positive about it instead. Attacking its critics just makes the atmosphere more bad tempered and prolongs the negative discussion, quite apart from risking falling afoul of our forum rules against personal attacks.
Good night, all!
"You may call it 'nonsense' if you like, but I've heard nonsense, compared with which that would be as sensible as a dictionary!"
I'd rather see something in cormyr, thay, or somewhere else that hasn't had a video game yet. (After atleast one solid expansion pack for bg3 of course)

I'd like to see a modern take on Katashaka which would give larian a huge sandbox to play with.

Remember the human (This is a forum for a video game):
Honestly Larian should not make IWD3. Tactical Adventures should be tapped for that. IWD is known for its completely custom party and its encounters. Exactly what Solasta is. Let Larian tell stories. Lets round out adventures with our Tav then tell stories in a completely new FR setting.
I would love for the high level Tav adventure to take us someplace new. Bring the Bloodstone Pass/lands into 5e for example. Those were very high level adventures.
I think it would be cool if they did a prequel like Descent into Avernus. All we know in cannon is that the duke survives and Elturel returns. It would be fun to play through everything and maybe even meet some of the characters like Zevlor before he abandoned his post. Extra points if they then make a sequel and you can import your characters into a single party. The heroes of Baldur's gate and Elturel joining forces to defeat an even bigger threat.
Larian is great at making their own stuff and systems. No more D&D please. Having the Solasta team work on a Baldur's Gate game would be amazing.
It just reminded me of the bowl of goat's milk that old Winthrop used to put outside his door every evening for the dust demons. He said the dust demons could never resist goat's milk, and that they would always drink themselves into a stupor and then be too tired to enter his room..
I just can't stand Avellone's writing style. I find it very pedantic, verbose, and over-the-top. That cleric charcater he wrote for PoE was just soooooo annoying and boring
how dare you, Sir! Durance is such a great companion.
I do think Av can be longwinded with his writing, but he seems to know how to write for the game so very well. Consistently strong themes and great utilisation of interactivity with the player.
Planescape is such a treasure trove of RPG narrative design.
As to the original commenter - I am not sure how Torment falls into Larian sensibilities - it was precise opposite of what Larian’s. Unless he meant setting, not the game, in which case I don’t really have an opinion. It’s the strong narrative design that made Torment and Mask of Betrayer so compelling to me.
I would be interested in another DnD game by Larian. They might be obsessed with edgyness a bit, but the storytelling is quite nice so far. I would prefer to get my BG3 character to level 20 though, before starting an entirely new adventure with a new character.
"We are all stories in the end. Just make it a good one."
I honestly don't think they could handle that sort of subtle, politically focused storytelling. They're suited to grand, crazy adventures, not political infighting and the difficulties that arise from attending an academy.
You already have icewind dale 3 and its called Original Sin. IWD were combat encounter games. I personally dont realy care about getting a new one... over anythign else.
I wouldnt mind Larian making a new one. But IWD doesnt have the same clout as Baldurs Gate has and always was an adventuring sim.
While I wouldn't call their storytelling atrocious, story definitely isn't their strong suit, nor do I think they have the skill and institutional knowledge to handle such a major project right now. Not that they lack talent, but I don't think they could scale up so rapidly, they may end up getting crushed under their own weight for having to grow too suddenly. Not enough proper infrastructure and all that. I support them getting a bigger budget and freedom to really push on their ideas to expand and grow, but only at their own pace.
Oh god please no, let's leave the Sword Coast and Icewind Dale for once. There's so many other places of Faerun that I'd love a game to really dig into. Calimshan, Halruua, Mulhorand, Zakhara, Lantan. There's a plethora of exciting places to visit, let's go there!
