Literally the only thing they say about them is how square they are and "they make good barbarians". They don't give a shit about them, they don't give a Dwarf companion. Dwarf in their previous game as the only one had bad enough of a storyline that it required a fix. Good lord Larian. Next time don't even put them in. Saves us all the trouble and disappointment. But with this game I say I will play them just to spite you. And I WILL have a good point of comparison in terms of content because I will play Dragonborn at the same time too. To see just how differently you treat certain races compared to others.
This has some serious “George Bush doesn’t care about Black People” vibes from Kanye West.
“Swen Vincke doesn’t care about Dwarf People.”
I mean in terms of what we know it's clear they care the least about Dwarfs. No companion from them, halflings were at least going to have some representation with that datamined Halfling werewolf before she got scrapped. Gnomes are said to be important. Half-Orcs have got entire section about them in an update and they changed one part of the game and they talk about interacting with them. Dwarfs? What Dwarfs? Oh they are square, kind of tough, make fun barbarians. That's it. This pretty much sounds like some high school student trying to come up with something to say about a topic he couldn't give less of a shit about. And with Beast it's already quite transparent how little they care given that again his storyline was only one that had to be fixed because they half assed it too much at release. What else am I supposed to get from this?
And you may say. Oh it's not a big deal. Well it is to me. I love playing Dwarfs and I will voice my disappointment when they are treated like shit. Which is often these days.

Captain Carrot is the only Dwarf I like.
Maybe Gimli. The book Gimli.
Gorek Gurnisson is a great dwarf too. Also Varric. And Oghren. I also really like character of Staunton from WOTR.
I don't like making judgments ascribing motivations, but I have noticed that they seem to have a very low level of dwarf content in the game. No dwarf companions or hirelings, and the only significant dwarf NPC I have seen so far is Nettie. It's a pity, because I quite like dwarves, but it seems to be the direction they are going.
The dwarf pirate was cool. It is why its dissapointing that there are no real dwarf companions in this game. Some of the best npcs in dnd and even non dnd games are dwarves. DWARVES RULES, ELVES DROOL!
One of the Origin characters from DOS2 was a dwarf so I don't think they have any issues.
That origin being again, so half assed in that game that they had to fix it in the expanded edition of the game and apologize for it.
Still a dwarf though
Yeah... But it just feels sad that THIS is the Dwarf they gave us. Honestly they should just stop pretending they give a shit about them. If they are not going to try with them they should just not bother with adding them at all.

Maybe that’s what they did.
Remember the human (This is a forum for a video game):
Some sort of reactivity to the race you are playing is expected, recognition of player choice is always good of course but no need to be blatant about it.
As for dwarves in general, they are getting the short stick like humans and half elves with the shoddy balancing from Larian. Ok you removed the penalty from wearing heavy armor and by consequence you made a dwarf racial trait useless, could replace it with dwarf gets +1 AC wearing plate armor to make up for the lost trait and handing their trait to everyone. Attribute structure should be kept and be an option for whoever wanna adopt the free attribute distribution so it doesn't feel as penalizing for getting those 3 races.
Also I laughed hard at the comment "We made humans more interesting". Yeah right
I mean as a whole. Why bother adding this as a playable race if you don't give a shit about it? You will only piss people off who like them. May as well not add Dwarfs at all and spare the disappointment. And now I am bitter because they did and the amount of content for them will probably suck ass.
You crazy? If dwarves werent available at all, it be even worse. At least I can play a dwarf that kills all the anti dwarf larian npcs since they are clearly racists while still doing goodly deeds.

But it is pretty much guaranteed that you will get LESS reactivity than most if not all other races. The only subrace that apparently has some reactivity are Duergar, but I wanted to play a more classic Dwarf which will probably be shitty because Larians are in love with their fucking elves.

Sadly another for the bin mods will fix it, preserve the RAW so at least you don't feel penalized for choosing what you want. But this goes so far if the story don't acknowledge dwarves in any shape or form.

I just hate this dishonesty. Should I be happy with subpar content that will make me angry when I look at everyone else or lack of content that will only make me disappointed, but I can power through? I don't like feeling like I am playing something worthless and that's what it feels like Dwarfs will be in this game. Worthless.

I will be having an ultimate miserable experience. I will be playing a Dwarf TAV and at the same time I will be playing Dragonborn Dark Urge so basically I will see just how awful can be the difference between what Larian gives a shit about and what they couldn't care less for. I will probably want to die.
