I made an account just to second this, lol. Booming Blade would make the amount of possible builds increase greatly. (shadow blade and green flame blade would be a nice bonus too)
You can be lucky that there was already a mod for this in EA. So an alternative will be there: YT (WolfheartFPS) --> Baldur's Gate 3 INSANE Mod - Hexblade, Celestial, & Archfey Warlock Subclasses I hope someone can mod something similar for utility cantrips (Shape Water, Prestidigitation etc.) and the whole Artificier Class...
Green Flame Blade and Booming Blade are weird gimmicks that were needed to make the Eldritch Knight function at all. As a gish player I don't want them. I'd much rather see changes to the Eldritch Knight itself.
War Magic is not a well designed ability. It doesn't work with the EK's main ability, Extra Attack, but against it. That's why the class feels bad to play. Using your EK abilities conflicts with your Fighter ability of just beating the snot out of someone. And you're a one trick pony with some weird ass cantrip that only works if your enemy moves. As gimmicky as it gets.
EK needs to be able to switch out one attack with a spell or cantrip every turn for a good universal fix without needing specific melee attack cantrip gimmicks. Versatility would be the fun thing about an EK:
Attack + Shocking Grasp (> Disengage) Attack + Thunderwave (against a group) Attack + Fire Bolt (for melee + ranged)
It wouldn't be OP because their spell slots are so limited. Cantrips do less damage than attacks and their Int is lower too. And certainly less damage than Battlemasters or Paladins spiking and buffing all their attacks. It would also make Evocations more appealing than just spamming Shield.
Weapon Bond doesn't seem all that useful either. It would just amount to some anti-disarm in BG3. Perhaps this is something where Larian homebrew would actually improve the game.

I like this idea!
Shame it wasnt mentioned earlier. It kinda sucks that Blade Warlocks gets all those buffs, but Eldrich Knight is allready forgotten. :-/
I still dont understand why cant we change Race for our hirelings. Lets us play Githyanki as racist as they trully are!
If they were to redesign it at some point, I think the EK should borrow from the Pathfinder Magus the idea of “being able to cast touch-range spells and cantrips through a melee strike”.
Party control in Baldur's Gate 3 is a complete mess that begs to be addressed. SAY NO TO THE TOILET CHAIN
