I never had faith in CDPR, but I don't really have hype in any game dev, if they make a good game, great, if they make a shitty one, that sucks. It's dangerous to blindly get hyped about things without seeing the final product. That said, I've purchased my share of early access titles, but I accept the risk that they might not turn out how I wish they would.
I'm not expecting too many surprises with BG3 though, just more of the same as Act 1, which I'm fine with. See and now we are all jaded old men like you. :P I made a rule that no pre-purchase without Early Access after the CDPR debacle...and the Fallout 76 debacle...and the Tides of Numenera blasphemy! Sheesh, maybe I have a learning disability.

Sheesh, maybe I have a learning disability. Sometimes even with precautions games can end up sucking anyway. It’s just a risk you run. I was so surprised with how much I hated FF16. I didn’t buy the game until 2 days before it came out, I had thoroughly played through the demo multiple times and reviews gave it wide praise and acclaim. I think it’s so bad that I won’t ever bother finishing it. So I guess the risk of disappointment is always there. That said, given how much there is to play of BG3 already, I think we can all rest assured that we will know more or less what to expect.

Honestly not worried at all, I think most people have a proper amount of hype.

Overhype? Nah.
There was already a more or less serious " clash" between over hype of 20 years of wait time of old BG2 fans with what BG3 is and what it can or cannot be. 3 years ago when the EA released.
Especially we already have the game. Like the EA could be a full fledged game in it's current state with a bit more content and some story lines being wrapped up. So any hype is built based on what we already see, it can't possibly be too far of from realistic expectations.
So we're good. Hype yourself. Release soon. !!!!!!
Alt+ left click in the inventory on an item while the camp stash is opened transfers the item there. Make it a reality.

Its not overhyped, its warranted hupe. Remember cyberpunk never actually showed anyone gameplsy, just trailers.

Its not overhyped, its warranted hupe. Remember cyberpunk never actually showed anyone gameplsy, just trailers. Yeah, I remember distinctly seeing plenty of people claiming to have playtested the game leaking that the game had serious issues in the months leading up to the game's release, with even some well known industry insiders alluding to such as well, but they got shot down and buried by the rabid CDPR cultists. BG3 currently doesn't give off any similar vibes. If this game doesn't meet expectations, chances are high that it'll be entirely on people for not managing their expectations rather than any technical faults of the game itself.

I think the only danger would be if there are major technical issues on final release. My machine (SSD 16G RAM Nvidia) easily exceeds the listed requirements yet I have major issues with heat build up and eventual glitches if I play for more than about 40 minutes straight. I have serious concerns whether I'll be able to navigate Baldur's Gate in Act III on anything but the lowest graphics setting. Maybe I just need an upgrade, however I've read about some people with 32 G RAM having trouble in the Tech Forum. Bugs etc were a big part of the CP 2077 debacle.
Saving that I expect it will be very well received.

The fantasy rpg of the decade!😊 I'm paying particular attention to: "Collector's Cover #2 of 4: Lae'zel" Aren't there 5 original Origin characters? Astarion, Lae'zel, Shadowheart, Gale, and Wyll. Who's going to be considered unimportant enough to be left out? xD And which decade are they talking about? The best "Fantasy RPG" in the past 10 years or are they claiming that BG3 will be the best Fantasy RPG of the 2020s? I could potentially agree with both, but the latter is certainly making a bigger claim; someone will have 6 years to prove them wrong.

I don't think overhype is necessarily the problem. It's just that people might just read a headline or news and not investigate further.
"Did you hear Baldur's Gate 3 will have 17,000 endings?!"

Look when was the last time we even had a proper rpg and not just an action adventure game devs tagged as an rpg? Wrath of the Righteous? A buggy mess whose back half was quarter baked without the cinimatic dialogue that tends to be the mainstay of modern rpgs.
Rpg of the decade isn't exactly a high bar.
Skyrim was over a decade ago

Not sure about the 4th, but I think it might be Karlach. They should have had one for Halsin!

I admit, that tempts me into getting a physical subscription for a year. I loved looking through physical magazines back in the day.

Skyrim was over a decade ago I was going to post something similar. I don’t think there have been any great abundance of RPGs, especially CRPGs, over the past ten years. RPG of the decade isn’t actually as impressive as it sounds.

Not the first rodeo for some of us. I learned my lesson about overhype when Ultima IX was released. I survived Cyberpunk unscathed, and I'm confident I have nothing to fear from BG3.

Not at all ... Personaly i feel like i participated in too many topics about things that could ben better, things that were missing, and things that were removed, or changed ... some of them i even started ... to expect this to be Holy Grail of RPGs. I hope it will be great game ... my expectations are high, but not high enough to call it hype. Also ... Ben there, werent we? One old czech saying say: Only stupid children, burn themselves twice on the same stove. We got our lesson ... it was not pleasant, but maybe we needed it back then. :-/
