One of the few disappointments I have with the 'Fly' Spell.
They currently have it as a really fancy jump spell.
I would really like to fly up 40 feet or whatever and blast fireballs.
Has anyone heard of anything changed for the full game?

I doubt there's any change. The fucking game doesn't even have spider climb. I think it's a fundamental problem, the game should've been designed fully in the XYZ axis from the get-go, but it was designed in XY, with spells like Fly being an exception to the rule. Solasta is still the best implementation of 5e rules, it's too bad that game is severely lacking in other aspects.

It probably requires a complet overhaul of the engine. Maybe in Baldurs Gate 3 2

Spiderclimb would be a nightmare program wise. For something that would be situational at best.

Solasta gets both this and flight right.
And ready action.
And dodge.
And a decent rest system.
And more in general most of the implementations of the rules that Larian decided to half-ass or change for no particular reason or benefit.

Party control in Baldur's Gate 3 is a complete mess that begs to be addressed. SAY NO TO THE TOILET CHAIN

I think the intent was to make it more accessible for mainstream audience but I don't think they succeeded either.

Yeah Solasta proves unequivocally that implementing the rules as written for all of these things not only 'works in the context of a video game', but is the best way to handle them, and is not prohibitively difficult to do - not to say they're not a talented bunch of developers, but its pretty clear that Larian have superior resourcing...

Solasta is very lowfy visually done game though.

Good luck having spider climb when you have "normal" walls with very high polygon count.
Or Fly, with "background" terrain, on which you not supposed to land, but your fly suddenly interrupted.

Yeah, which is why the entire game's production doesn't even match the cost of BG3's cinematic intro.
That's hardly a legitimate argument in favor of the latter.

Maybe they can rework the Z-axis and spells like this one? I mean, you can already pile up a bunch of boxes to climb pretty high and the terrain itself have a lot of heigh levels. I don´t think is an issue with the engine at all, just some decision to animate it maybe? A bit weird but not the end of the world.
