I dont know If im alone about this, but I find all the UI in games more and more immersion breaking, being in the way, and clutter up the screen.

I suggest we should be given options to customize the UI elements, Show/hide, change size of the UI, change transparency, autohide?

They are using the same system like they used in the Divinity: Original Sin games. I do not know why they thought it would be still OK, as HUD customization was always the weakest part of their games. They should have been inspired by the Pillars of Eternity series.

Since, maybe im just sceptical ... but immersion as far as i know is "how much i feel like i am inside the game" ...
Wich is in my understanding broken more like by the fact that *i* in this particular case, am party of four people, that i watch from abowe ...
Rather than having a controll panel in lower part of my scrren. O_o

I still dont understand why cant we change Race for our hirelings. frown

An extremely simple solution would be at the press of a key to remove every single UI elements. Like in previous Baldurs Gate games. Call it immersive mode.

It just reminded me of the bowl of goat's milk that old Winthrop used to put outside his door every evening for the dust demons. He said the dust demons could never resist goat's milk, and that they would always drink themselves into a stupor and then be too tired to enter his room..

What I mean by immersion breaking, maybe a bit hard to convey my thinking in this matter, but ill try. I guess I mean that all the clutter of the hud kinda "reminds you" that its a game on a digital screen, it takes attention away from the actual game.
Just like for example I think its immersion breaking in some games (like diablo 4) when there is damage hits above every enemy you hit. And since you slash, shoot, throw magic constantly in battle, all those numbers are just distraction from the graphics. I wanna experience the game almost as a 3d movie that I am in controll off, Just like i guess some would say subtitles in movies could be immerision breaking, having to constantly go from the movie to subtitles and so on.

TLDR, what count Turnipsome said up above.

This is definitely something that’s been brought up a number of times before. Personally I tend to have as much info on the screen as possible so it’s not something I’m interested in, but as we’ve already seen here there are others who want to be able to play with fewer UI elements visible.

Im always pro choice in this type of things, just allow toggles in options, or even in game near the hud or hotkeys.
I also feel that some hud elements could be present, but minimized both in design and size. 🤔

Shouldn't be that hard to implement something like that, I guess modders will provide some kind of solution to this eventually. But would be nice have it from start and from the creators them self, so eventual bugs and other issues have been ironed out.

I think the fighting order on top could be smaller OR at least have a toggle, simple click to make smaller, click to enlarge to as it is now. OR have it smaller and then hover mouse over for 0.5 seconds to enlarge it. Kinda same for the map, and even maybe have hide map. The left side with companion portraits could also have some option to hide/minimize. Really, IT CANT be that hard for them to implement.

Cannot agree more. Please create an option to either toggle the UI on / off, or create a slider to resize the various elements of the UI (like the text-size slider)

I really don't understand that you put loads off effort in making a game look fantastic, and afterwards create so much clutter on the screen that it starts to look like a middle off the road video game.

I kind of like the new UI... except the ennemies action bar popup that really is in the middle of the screen and hide the action a lot !

Yeah, I'm using a controller and I wish I could remove:

The character portraits on the left
The character info on the bottom left (I already know who I have selected)
The minimap - It's too big.

I brought up the mini map being to big to many times already, but since the game is live now. THE MINI MAP IS TO BIG! Also, a hide minimap feature would be welcome.

Looks like F10 does just that, though I don't see an option to pick and choose specific UI elements.

Personally I like my UI clutter, and wouldn't want the minimap smaller as it feels like it wouldn't be as readable (now that it is actually readable, which it wasn't really in EA, but at least it looks like there's something for folk who prefer a cleaner screen. Though I'm not sure how playable the game is without the interface. I guess you need to be clever with your key-mapping and pop up the UI at certain points.

F10 removes everything, thats obviously the least good solution, since you have to toggle back and forth between like every action in battle.

I could get used to the portraits on the side, even though it like them smaller. I can even get used to the bottom UI since its crucial to battle, but seriously the minimap, is not Mini enough. I dont know how other play, but I dont constantly stare att my map, it has no place to constantly be that large. Oh well, not much to do than wait and hope larian does something about it.

I find that the Map blocks my vision the most, especially in some areas. It would be nice to have a small toggle around it's rim to decrease its size . Another to make it disappear or condense to a small toggle. This could work for the task bar as well. Shouldn't be too hard to implement. There was a very old dos game.....Ultima-The Black Gate....that never showed the UI while traveling or exploring. You just double clicked anywhere on the playing area...and the UI would pop up. Of course, you had to deal with all those pixels and old graphics, but....still. It was a quick, intuitive way of hiding UI clutter. Now that we have unbelievably stunning graphics, its a shame to have anything block our view. Let alone keep our greedy thief from finding all the hidden loot. smile
