He is theorizing/speculating about DLC for BG3.

Most likely:
Patches that add things like races, classes etc

Less Likely:
Larian will want to do paid DLC for classes, races?
Would Larian release additional companions, origin characters?

Questions:
Would Larian entertain the idea of paid expansions that go into other stories connected to this game? raises the level cap?
Would Larian do paid separate modules?

Personally I don't think Larian will do smaller paid DC since they historically have avoided it so far and had ample opportunity in D:OS2.

I think they have heavily indicated that there will be additional races and classes down the line though; the last newsletter made a point of putting "launch" before the class/race lists and they also used the words "at launch" a couple of times during PfH too iirc. So unless they're giving us those for free (would be odd since development would be costly) expansions seem likely to me.

I can't see new origins being easily added seeing as they need a lot of reactivity with the current content, though I could imagine there being some for new campaigns, whether brand new or as continuation.

I think that the only paid DLC that Larian would do it would be for story content. If I remember correctly ego draconis had a DLC, didn't?

I don't see races arriving for free because they require new dubbing and extensive modeling work, except that maybe for a definitive edition.

I see modes, subclasses and gameplay options being added through the game life cycle completely for free.

I would rather for them to concentrate fully on their next project, thank you very much.

It depends on how deep they are into preproduction on their next project, which they have already started.

Until the next project gets to a certain point, a significant portion of their studio won’t have as much to do. They therefore do have the development power to fully concentrate on their next project and make DLC for their last, contradictory as that sounds.

That said, I think they will release a definite edition, I honestly gives it for granted. On top of that, nowdays developers follow their products for some time to keep tweaking and fixing things around.

In one recent interview, Swen said they have already started on their next project but gave no further indication about that what it might be. He did say separately (in a different interview or a different part of the same interview, can’t recall) that the studio is very much sticking with turn based RPGs, as he enjoys making them and it’s something they do well.

Honestly I think that it would totally be fair to make a paid DLC that gives every class one new subclass, maybe with a couple races thrown in. The amount of time and effort that goes into those from a mechanics andwriting perspective is enough to justify it. I doubt they'd release subclasses or races or anything like that one at a time though. I think new side stories are in an awkward place due to the level cap. Any extra side quests they include would just disrupt the xp curve of the game and lead to players hitting max level sooner, which isn't great when there's not much flexibility in the level cap.

My read on that language was a little different. The vibe I got was that he was specifying "at launch" for the folks who need to hear it multiple times and multiple ways that there were no new patches on the way.

Some folks might be half watching while doing something else, fire up EA, and be surprised they can't find the monk, because they just Swen demo it

I recently found him on youtube a few months back, I like him. Ive been on this forum since the game was introduced, I must have missed those. I am noticing my youtube feed is full of BG3 streamers now, since the game EA went live ive only seen this guy and wolf.

Wouldn't surprise me if we just don't get DLC content at all, tbh, considering Larian's history.

The game isn't out yet and there's already a damand for more playable races.
