It seams that most liked questions will be asked, so I found a good question with release date and pre-loading question. We need to press like as many times as we can.

I would expect 12PM on the third as that is generally when steam counts the day as ended, aka October 4th. If you have early access that would be 72 hours earlier. The above is just a guess, we really do not know until they comment

I think for EA it wasn't a midnight release, I remember doing stuff in the morning. Googling it looks like 10am PT was the worldwide EA release, so I imagine they will go for a fixed timeslot again which means August 4th for Australia since the rest of the world is so behind

That would be 7 pm on the 3rd for us in Europe. The sooner people can get their hands on BG 3, the sooner they can start working on mods. Which, in turn, let's me play sooner

Almost certainly the same, 10 A.M. pacific because otherwise it would divert from Steam.

Honest question, why do you think that? I mean, of course it would divert from Steam then, but Swen quite clearly said, they'd have preferred an earlier release time, but Steam wouldn't let them due to wanting manpower at time of release.
GoG has their people in Poland, so they can have their manpower for release ready at [earlier time]™.

That's why I think there's at least an however small possibility.

Or does Steam contractually force publishers to nowhere release earlier than on Steam?

My guess is the Larian comms folks were in the military. Meaning they are good at the "hurry up and wait" game. Having served in the US Army myself, I have excellent waiting skills. "Get ready to get ready!!!!" lol

I imagine that's on a case by case basis whether or not there's a contract involved and we just don't know but-

Punishing customers for getting it on one platform vs another isn't a good look.

The ONLY thing we know is that when asked Swen definitely said the release time was 10:00 A.M. Pacific time, he didn't say only for Steam, just generally. I'd like to think that if there WAS a difference between the GOG and Steam release times, he would have said so when asked about it.

I can still hope you're wrong Don't take it personally, I just want you to be wrong here and maybe buy the game a second time from GoG as well. We'll soon know.
Since I count the current day and release day in full, I say we'll know in 9 days.

Why I think they MIGHT release earlier on GoG is about the GoG technical support maybe not being at full strength when it's 10am PT anymore. I have no clue if the timezone swaps between Germany and Poland, but it's either 7pm or 8pm for them then.
So if they have the same reasoning as Steam does, they might want to have the game released a few hours earlier.

But as I said, time will tell.

Edit: Also I'm... a strong 50% sure Swen mentioned Steam specifically.

Nothing in life is certain, but we can be reasonably certain from the CEO literally telling us the time that it will be at that time, so yes, you're technically correct.


Realistically, there's no way of knowing if GoG might be LATER than Steam instead as well.

Again, given that the CEO of Larian has told us the release time will be 10:00 A.M., there's no real reason to contest it.

Swen wasn't sure, but I highly doubt it, because for that they'd either have to move EA to a beta branch and have the main branch enable preload

OR (and this won't happen 100%, but belongs here for completeness)

Steam and Larian have to take EA from us X days before release, not playable anymore. Then we could preload on the main branch as well. But Steam does not do this. Sure it's technical possible, but not really in practice.

I've been looking at GOG threads for their general release times and I'm generally seeing 6am PST or 9am EST.

The release time is going to be 12pm Thursday my time, which is quite perfect for me.

I WFH that day, and I can start the download on my lunch break. It will be finished before the end of my workday.
