I was wondering if anyone knows or guesses how much variety we will have in our quests main and side. Are we gonna see our party face different kind of challenges? Or is it gonna be mostly fights in every occasion? I personally think for a game this big we will see many different challenges but what do you think??

Have you ever played D&D? Because this is basically D&D but with a lot more story that is of far higher writing quality than you would encounter at most D&D tables.

Play Dragon Age Origins. More or less everything that's in there, is in the First Act of BG3.

Fear my wrath, for it is great indeed.

Depending on the path you take you will have very different quests.

For example:

One of the larger quests is whether to
help Minthara invade and kill the grove or save the grove from her
, or just don't get involved and let them sort things out on their own.

The choice you make there will send you in wildly different directions.

However a lot of stuff just isn't tied to quests and you come into situations that are just "there" - and you have to decide how to handle those "encounters" or "situations" - but nobody told you to go there. Like when you stumble upon a very well hidden
"community of kuo-toa worshipping a strange creature in the Underdark
and you can either interact with them or not.

And that is proper D&D in my eyes. You just have people/creatures doing weird shit - that has nothing to do with your objectives - and you can choose to get involved or not.

Yeah I've encountered all of them and handled these situations in a different manner each playthrough. I was wondering if there will be something like a quest to retrieve something from someone unseen e.g. so you can use the rogue of your party and do the quest stealthily instead of a full on fight. Or do you have to go for the full on fight every time. That was the direction of the question. Now this is for anyone that have heard anything outside from the EA . I've a lot of hours in the EA so i pretty much know almost all if not all the encounters.

I am worried that we will not gain the same amount of experience by avoiding combat or using unconventional or unorthodox methods to solve problems. The level cap is 12, so we should have plenty of time and opportunities to be at least level 10 before we reach Act 3 the actual city itself regardless of the road we took. That was a major issue for me in DOS2. I found that by killing people after solving their respective quests I could min max my way to higher levels faster than intended.
