Cohh must be popular. Cameo in Cyberpunk, role in BG3, exclusive early access to PoR: Deadfire.
I haven’t thought of Noober, but I am really curious what they will do with it - it’s seem right up Larian’s alley. From what I have seen I am also quite impressed with Cohh’s voice work. Streamers cameos in Cyberpunk felt very much like just that - Naaber feels more like a character. I am not sure I would recognise it’s Cohh from those clips. Well done to Cohh and the Larian team.

Spooiler or no, I fully expected this entirely.
I haven't a clue who this Cohh dude is, though, or why he's relevant.
Fear my wrath, for it is great indeed.

and it just dawned on me that Cohh was Garry the prophet!! omg, I was about to say something like "eh, not a fan of 'celebrity' voice actors, especially streamers/youtubers" but nope, if he puts in a performance that's as good as Garry, I'm okay with it. I loved Garry lol

He's not a small channel by any means, his youtube channel has 339k subscribers. But for the amount of attention and cameos he's getting you'd think he'd have at least a few millions.

To be honest, I thought the celebrity cameo stuff was a little offputting in Cyberpunk. I hope this isn't a trend.

Is he really a "celebrity" though? I had no idea of who he was until recently.

I mean, I kind of now who he is. Just a random YouTube person. Couldn't pick him out of a lineup. Couldn't recognize his voice.

Funny guy! But holy hell, there was a lot of things I would have rather seen in the game than Naaber!

I wouldn't consider him one, but apparently Larian isn't the only video game studio that considers him to be a big enough celebrity/influencer to include and advertise his inclusion in their game, since Cyberpunk did it as well.

Cohh Carnage is a successful Twitch streamer - he is definitely well known and he has 1.5 Million followers. Likely averages about 9k viewers. I have always enjoyed his stream when I catch it and he is a really down to earth, kind hearted guy.
I like that he even-handedly defended Larians decision to put Gender and Sex as separate selectable things in the game when people were whining about something that doesn't materially affect them at all.

So it's some guy with a web camera and opinions, yes? *shrug* I guess he uses his voice enough that he might make for a decent enough voice actor then. VA in Larian games tend to be good, so he'll probably do a fine job.
Nobody's perfect... I'm a nobody.

It's a no brainer for Larian, get a decent VA, who also happens to have a decent Twitch following, which means that his followers are more likely to buy the game, they end up making money from hiring him.

I wasn't going to say it, but yeah, it's strategically brilliant. Cohh Carnage and Matt Mercer - you have to get the streaming and online community aboard. Released a month before Starfield so they would get a full month of streaming *advertisement* before that game releases. AND people are sick of Diablo, it's really perfect timing, people are looking for the content.

I mean he's probably the biggest streamer who focuses on crpgs (although he doesn't play them exclusively, he plays them a lot).
He voiced Arwen Merton in Solasta too. If you've played that game and PoE Deadfire, you'll recognise the Cog of Cohh in both games.
He's very supportive of crpg developers of all sizes and it's normally his playthrough they watch on release of a game for bugs and patches. When he played BG3 EA he got 47k people watching him at his peak. It will probably be even more on full release.
If his first playthrough of a game goes through without too many bugs it's a massive bonus to any developer given the size of his audience and how well respected he is in the general area of crpgs. If his audience enjoys a game he plays it almost always translates into an increase of sales. Like Blackheifer says, great advertising

Maybe, but I have never felt the need to watch one of his videos. I'm playing BG III, for the franchise, for D&D, for the Forgotten Realms, nostalgia etc. Not some influencer. This sort of thing makes me think of the likes of the whole Jessica Chobot thing in Mass Effect. These cameos do nothing for me.
