Hello everyone! I hope that you're all as excited as I am about the full release in just 3 days! I've been testing some of the classes/playstyles I don't typically drift toward these last few days while waiting for the release date, and I had a question about Draconic Bloodline I'm hoping you all could help answer.

Do we know if we will be getting more spells for the respective dragon ancestor's element after release? I was trying the acid dragon bloodline and found that the acid spells are limited to Acid Splash and Chromatic Orb (which has turned out to be a way more awesome spell than I expected it to be). I was surprised to learn that I couldn't learn Melf's Acid Arrow, which just doesn't make sense to me at all; I can only use its Spell Scroll version. If I had chosen the fire or lightning bloodlines, that would make more sense.

The poison, lightning, and cold bloodlines seem to have the same problem, so I just wanted to know if this has already been brought up to the developers or if there was really any kind of information on this particular subject.

Thank You.

I was kind of worried about how Chromatic Orb would interact with the bonus ability modifier to damage the build eventually gets since there is an item in EA that adds d4 poison damage but it doesn't work on the chromatic orb poison orb.

I'm not the one to really answer this as I'm never a big fan of arcane classes for some reason.. but:
Sorcerers can change damage type with metamagic. Maybe only one type of Sorcererm but I've sene them do it. Big ol's Acid-Fireballs and all.

Fear my wrath, for it is great indeed.

That metamagic isn't in the PHB. It is an optional rule in Tasha's.

It's not in EA, and I doubt it will be added because Larian's surfaces make it more much more complicated to code. If you change an acid chromatic orb to thunder damage does it create an acid surface or a thunder surface or an acid surface that does thunder damage?

Unknown, but not in PnP rules.

Yup, lack of suitable spells for some elements is an issue in PnP, and in Solasta too. You might consider multiclassing (wizard or circle of the land druid) to pick up acid arrow. In theory it should work.

Most of non-fire elemental spells, and a number of the fire spells as well, were only added in 5e expansion books. I believe in the Elemental Evil player's companion, if I'm not mistaken. However, Larian did add the Ice Knife spell from that source.

Oh, that's right! I had completely forgotten about multiclassing when I made this thread. Though even with that, it still seems like learnable spells for DB should be focused around their bloodline. Like, at the very least, maybe 1 or 2 spells completely unique to the bloodline element, and not found in the other magic classes. Or maybe I'm just greedy.
