Hi Not sure this is the best subforum for this.

The game looks awesome and I'm excited to play it no matter what!

But I hope there will be more companions than the ones from act one ( I know there are hirelings but if they have no back stories it's a bit less intressting). I strongly thinking of playing a Dwarven cleric of Helm (Going to try to stick to LN (With good leanings) dialog options.

- But I see no Dwarven or Halfling or Gnome Companions (so I'll be the short one amongst tall people)
- Also, As cleric of Helm I'm curious what would be correct party

-Helm wouldn't get along with a Priestess of Shar, or wouldn't appreciate a vampire, Die Minthara! ( Maybe in a 2nd play through ), not sure what would be the thoughts on a Gith. That leaves Karlach, Gale, Wyll, Jarheira and Minsc. So I think I would need to respec someone into a thief.

For the romance option that leaves Karlach but not sure if that the one I'd like to play out ( I think more shadowheart).

So I'll probably try to have a balanced party and just play loose with the rules " Helm says it's ok for this time! to associate with Shar

Halsin is a good aligned companion too. If you don't want to have Shadowheart in the party, because Shar, then Halsin and Jaheira can take over healing and buffing.
But I would say, it is not illogical to work together with someone in the same situation as your character, even if she is a cleric of Shar. And it is relatively soon clear, that Shadowheart likes good deeds, so maybe you can get along with her anyway.

The funny thing is, that if you would play a typical Sharran, Shadowheart would disapprove most of the time.

You sound like you want to "role play," yet you're going to meta knowing that Astarion is a vampire despite that he's walking around in the sun and that Shadowheart is a cleric of Shar even though she doesn't tell you that until you've been traveling with her for a while.

This, I edited my post for saying, that she probably would disapprove of typical Sharran stuff, like murdering innocents.

Well that the problem as well, maybe if I would have blocked my ears and avoided even looking at anything about the game. I might have been surprised But the Genie is out of the bottle so to say. I'm still looking forward to the rest of the game as I have no clue to the other acts and that 30% extra in the complete game. 2 more days to wait!

I just hope there are more companions that would match my Dwarf first play through!

As for Shadowheart, she doesn't act like a servant of shar that true. (At least like the descriptions, from my old 2E and 3.5E guide books says how she is supposed to act ( I the books she would be stripped of her powers I think )

I'll just enjoy the story and play the vigilant one as best as OP as possible!

Additionally: yes, I would have loved a companion from the smaller races, mostly Helia, the halfling bard, but a dwarf would be great too.

It would be nice to have more races among the companions (and more companions in general). Not so hot on another cleric - with 12 classes, it already feels like a waste to me to have two druids. I think you should aim to cover all available classes and races before repeating yourself.

Keep in mind that as a cleric, murder isn't your only option when dealing with non-beleivers. You can always try to convert her from her evil goddess to one aligned with good or nuetral.

If that is an option, it would be awesome!

if we get a dwarf companion, you would have to go with the vastly superior Duergar since they can magically turns Invisible or Enlarge themselves to Assert Dominance over the other Dwarves, Shield Dwarve is a close second but because they're related to the Duergar despite worshipping a weak lame stupid God that started the war between the Dwarves and the Duergar.

also the Gith is split into the Lawful Evil Githyanki and the Lawful Neutral Githzerai

as for Short Races I wouldn't mind a romanceable female Goblin companion

Duergar are weak. That's why the other dwarves crush them.and their pathetic whiny emo gods.

Astarion is evil, and you dont need yo 'know' he's a vampire to know that. He tries to murder and rape you (order doesnt matter) the moment he meets you. He also attempts to gaslights you. He dies for his evil.


I, too, would love a dwarf companion, but there are anti dwarf racists around.

I'm no modding expert, but I imagine if there's gonna be a mod for a shorty companion, it's going to be simply cosplaying existing companions into a shorty.

He doesn't rape you, he tries to bite you, biting is actually a form of assault which is a different crime altogether

In literature the vampire bite is often seen as sexual and intimate, especially in the more cheesy twilightesque novels, so this is indeed a valid interpretation of Astarions bite scene.

And, he's a villain..if you don't think he's capable if sexual assault, you aint paying attention.. I'm.nkt giving the guy who threatens me and attacks me the benefit of the doubt.

Compare that Shadowheaet. A character who worships an evil goddess but actually pretends to be nice. You might regret having in your party but she has long term planning so I'll give her some slack.
