They've recommended we delete early access saves and uninstall.

I have just set up a new PC and haven't installed the early access on this machine (don't have access to the old one now)... should I install early access to delete the saves from steam cloud and then uninstall?

I think that the Steam client checks the cloud save and Local save status. you will then be given the choice to sync the cloud to your computer or your computer to the cloud.

Yes. In fact, do this twice.

Fear my wrath, for it is great indeed.

Helpful, but if I don't, then as soon as I install the full game it's going to download everything that's in the cloud storage, right?

You can always go to the save folder after the garments installed and delete saves once they are downloaded from the cloud.

You made me wonder now, as I deleted saved from PC but not cloud. Ehh, I will manage

Turn off cloud saves for this game. Simple as that.

It will otherwise keep forcing the saves into your system. This broke my game back when they changed how saves work a few months back.

God only knows what it'll do to the full release

I turned off cloud saves and checked the steam cloud site and everything was still there. Hopefully it just deletes everything on full install.

I'm a little surprised they didn't add a wipe option for those of us moving from EA to full game, if they foresee serious issues.

I guess this will not be a problem if you have cloud saves turned off globally?

And most players dont read the forums, or social media we are a small amount, so what is everyone else going to do, just be left googling trying to find a fix?, hopefully they put this info in the launcher

In your steam library:

- right-click the game
- select properties
- select general
- find the steam cloud section and uncheck "keep games saves in the Steam Cloud for Baldur's Gate 3" (if you don't have anything, you should see "0 bytes stored")

DRAGON FIRE-AND DOOM Dragons? Splendid things, lad-so long as ye look upon them only in tapestries, or in the masks worn at revels, or from about three realms off...

I also already uninstalled the game without deleting the saves.😢 I will try turning off cloud saves in Steam to see if that deletes those, but there are still the Larian cross-saves…

I don’t feel like redownloading the EA at this point, so I think I will take my chances without the old saves being deleted.😜

It's also a good idea to go your appdata > local folder and delete the larian > baldurs gate folder as well. I don't have any other Larian games installed so I just deleted the entire Larian folder.

Larian is saying they will release detailed instructions today.

I'm not worrying about it because I know the majority of people will not see any special instructions and won't follow them properly even if they do lol.

The vast majority of EA players are going to take no action other than firing up Steam and letting it do its thing to update to the release version, so this MUST work just fine.

In addition, there will be even more people installing from scratch for the first time, so that MUST work fine too.

Of course, there can always be disasters of one sort or another but honestly, I think you're much better off if you just don't waste any time worrying about it.

"It BETTER work" might be more accurate, because having thousands of steam posters spamming the forum is not a good look lol.

Ok, the Steam page now has an update asking that you delete all saved games/campaigns, and mods, and then recommends you uninstall the EA version as it won't make the final download any faster.

(it was probably what triggered this thread in the first place, but I am dumb)

Hey Icelyn,

I did the same thing. The easiest way to sort it is do a search in window's explorer for 'Baldur' and go to the result that says Baldur's Gate 3/Saved Games and just delete the save game folder. Best to be on the safe side

Also, if you have OneDrive synchronisation enabled, you might have two versions of the save game folder you need to clear out!
