Hello all,
Myself and my friend usually play this together but her internet access is pants and I thought if I download the files my end and copy on to her SSD and install from there will that work?

Also, am I going to have to redownload the whole thing again tomorrow?

Where is it going to know her account and my account or will I have to download the files again from under her account?

Cheers

Yes, you will need to download the files after the launch time tomorrow, as the game now available for download is the early access version.

As to whether you could bypass any elements of the download by copying the files into the correct location on your friend's PC I have no idea. Are you using Steam or GoG? If it has any chance of working at all with Steam, I'd assume that you shouldn't actually try to install the file from your copied files, but just have them in the right place so when the Steam installer checks the files to use then it finds them there already and doesn't need to download, but I have never tried anything of the sort myself.

I am, of course, assuming that your friend has purchased the game herself, so has a key associated with her own Steam or GoG account.

If it's a GOG version you've got, then simply copy-pasting the install works fine. Or you could of course download the installer and use that. If it's steam you can still technically copy-paste, though you'll probably have to run a file verification, which can take quite some time.

And yes, you have to download the whole game again, you should delete the early access client, it's not just a matter of patching it to save time.

Yes it's on GOG my version. But hopefully if we purchase today we can get the Digital Deluxe Edition together too!
Ok I will download again in the morning and fingers crossed!

You should get the digital deluxe if you buy today, yes. Not sure if the "deadline" is midnight or launch hour, but why risk it 🙂

Gog version you can just copy paste. Your friend wouldn't even need to buy it themselves technically I think since there's no drm.

In theory, you might be able to copy paste the baldur's gate files from your steam library directly to her library folder. When she tries to install BG3 on her Steam account, Steam 'should' find the files mostly already there, and verify that you have the game files, and then it'll do the rest, such as registry keys, etc.

That said, I would just play it safe, and do it the regular way. The game isn't going anywhere.
