No multi-classing for Explorer difficulty? Why?

Why limit people to one class just because they are more interested in the story/role playing than the combat?

I don't understand.

It cannot be a balance issue can it? People playing easy mode are not playing for a challenge, that is kind of the whole point.

Seems like an unnecessary restriction.

Thoughts anyone?

It does seem odd given that there was no difficulty based restriction in earlier or any other DnD game afaik, also the easiest difficulty & multiclassing is basically supposed to be a good way to test out builds and characters.

Yeah it's annoying.

Feels like you are being punished for choosing the easier difficulty setting.

Was going to play some split screen with my wife who is not a gamer and thus would play on explorer difficulty but now we can't multi-class unless we bump the difficulty up.

It's just really strange. I hope they change this in the future at some point.

Wow... Another developer decision that makes absolutely no sense. Shocking. /s

I wonder, can you at least turn the difficulty up when leveling up?

so as a work around, I have noticed if I switch to balanced, add 2nd class, switch back to explorer that going forward, I can pick either class at level up. I do agree that it seems to be a silly restriction.

Although I have no intention to play on the easy mode, that seems like such a pointless restriction, especially since you can change the difficulty at any time to get around it.

I have never played story mode so I apologize if I have a misconception about it. I just thought that all combat auto resolved with you as the victor.

So I don't get why a player making unworkable multiclassing decisions would even matter, so yeah why restrict it?

I thought exactly the same thing, so I mentioned it to someone at Larian prior to release and made a mod ready for launch that fixes it - however it disables achievements so if achievements are important to you, you can also change difficulty mode, do multiclassing stuff, then change the difficulty mode back again

Ahh that is good news that there is a work around for it.

Nice to hear I'm not the only one who found it strange.

Thanks for the replies. wink
