So the hotfix of the 4.0 hotfix (I didn't play on the short-lived 4.0 original) is going and I have the same problems again, though not as severe. Very laggy, even with the performance turned down. Nothing seems to be fixing it. I've noticed that the Mod Fixer files that everyone is supposed to use are showing up on the left side of the BG3ModManager list coloured in brown. When it's running properly they don't show at all. Any idea what's going on and what I can do? I've tried the recommended fixes, but no luck so far.
First: The Choose Your Stats mod works just fine. I used it in EA and I use it now.
Second: Full Release Mod Fixer also works fine and it does show up in the BG3MM. It shows at the bottom of the left hand pane in the 'Overrides' section and it should have a brown background.
Third: You need to make sure your game works properly before installing mods. This applies to any game.
Fourth: Learn how to use your mod manager - what it does, what the various parts are and what the colours mean. This also applies to any game.
First: Never said "choose your stats" didn't work. It's customary when asking for help on the internet to provide baseline info so people who want to help don't have to ask a lot of questions first.
Second: As above, except that at one point the mod fixer from early access didn't show up at all on the list.
Third: I did.
Fourth: Always good to know who the trolls are.
For the rest of the community, I followed a hunch and erased the empty Baldur's Gate 3 folder in Documents. Problem solved.
Your thread title mentions "a mod" (singular) and your OP mentions two mods (plural) by name so the inference is that you are blaming at least one mod.
1. My point about CYS was that it works and we can rule out the mod as a suspect.
2. Ditto with FRMF.
3. I meant removing all mods and making sure the vanilla game works. This is especially important with BG3 as hotfixes continue to cause problems and most people are foolish enough to have automated updates on the go.
4. You are the one with the problem and you are the one who stated incorrect expectations about how FRMF should appear or not in your mod manager.
Everything I wrote is standard trouble-shooting procedure when modding games but somehow this makes me a troll. Grow up, son.

Neither CYS or FRMF put any files in the Documents folder. As to how exactly an empty folder can influence anything is beyond me (a retired IT tech). But you stick with your hunches and I will stick with tried and tested methods and logic.
