So I'm playing a bard, and on leveling up to level 3, I chose the "school of swords" subclass, and checked dual wielding as my fighting style. But for the life of me, I can't equip a weapon in the off-hand weapon slot, even thosugh the weapon is "light" (dagger). If I drag on the the off-hand slot, it replaces the main weapon. If I right clich on the off-hand slot, I see a bunch of weapon choices, click on one, and it again replaces the main weapon, leaving the off-hand slot empty. Is it actually a bug, or am I just missing a step somewhere?

I didn't want to report it as a bug if it actually wasn''t, so I thought I'd ask first. Anyone else have this issue.

Is your main hand weapon light, too? Unless you choose the Dual Wielder feat at level 4 (or 8 or 12), both weapons need to be light.

Main hand is a rapier (can't remember if it's light or not) and I'm trying to equip a dagger as off-hand (which I know is light). I didn't know about the dual wielding feat avaailable at level 4, so maybe that's the issue. I will try 2 daggers just to see if dual wielding works okay. Will post back after todays play time.

I just checked and dual-wielding works perfectly fine for me.

Rapiers however cannot be dual-wielded, as they are a Finesse weapon but are not a Light weapon. You need a trait at level 4 to specifically dual-wield with such weapons, otherwise you can only have a shield.

Good to know, thanks! That answers my question. I really didn't think it could be a bug because others would have mentioned it by now. My fault for not being used to the 5e ruleset most likely. Will stick with the rapier as a single weapon until I get to level 4.
