This is the area where the Adamantine Forge is located. So yeah....it has a fast travel point. But what if you don't want to use fast travel? I haven't found another way out yet. And while I'm at it, is there an easier way to get in after the first time (again, without fast travel)?

Why don't you want to use fast travel? I don't believe there's an easier way back in.
Perhaps, a way out, but I wouldn't hold my breath...

Fast travel is a gameplay convenience that does not exist in-world. Thus, the idea of an area only accessible through fast-travel is immersion-breaking. It's fine as long as I can use fast-travel as a shortcut for doing long boring walks to offload my loot at the next trader, and then back. But not more than that.

And fast travel from anywhere is an abomination.

Yes, but those portals are clearly designed as gameplay conveniences and nothing else. If they were in-world portals, so many things would cease to make any sense in-world that it'd take the time of a typical BG3 playthrough to even write them up.
